Where do you get your information from?

Wasn't part of the reason Zimmerman was charged because so many people were outraged and protested him NOT being charged after he chased the kid down and ended up killing him?

No.

Stretty, you've lied again. Man, if you keep definitively stating lies as facts then what credibility you have is going to completely evaporate.

Thank you for that. I thought that was the case but wasn't 100% sure. So he's made up more nonsense to justify his views.

Fair enough Dave, i was going on the BLM movement which originated after the trial

In which case the Trayvon martin case shouldnt of triggered protests, zimmerman was not above the law, he was tried and found not guilty.

Stretty,

Please feel free to correct this mistake you have made.

When I was refreshing my memory about the Martin protests and reading the article I shared, there is a passage that triggered my memory of another similar more recent tragedy, Elijah McClain.

"Exactly one month ago, the 17-year-old was shot dead in Sanford, Florida, while heading back from a convenience store, where he'd picked up a bag of Skittles and an iced tea."

^^^ this bit...

Last August, police officers in Aurora, Colorado, approached 23-year-old Elijah McClain as he walked home from a convenience store. The Aurora Police Department later said that a 911 caller had reported a “suspicious person” in a ski mask, and that when officers confronted McClain — who was not armed and had not committed any kind of crime — he “resisted arrest.”

In the 15 minutes that followed, the officers tackled McClain to the ground, put him in a carotid hold, and called first responders, who injected him with ketamine. He had a heart attack on the way to the hospital, and died days later, after he was declared brain dead.

These senseless killings of "suspicious" scrawny black youths walking home from convenience stores hurts my head and heart.

I am an unabashed tree-hugging, bleedin-heart leftard, but a while back I tended to lean towards the "all lives should matter" frame of thinking. But it's clear to me that for many people, including far too many in law enforcement, some lives just don't matter as much as others.

For me, all lives should matter so BLM seemed a bit like so called positive discrimination, but I was just naïve. If all lives matter to people, then Zimmerman doesn't think Martin is suspicious, some random person doesn't call 911 on a "suspicious" scrawny introvert who plays violin to homeless animals in a shelter Elijah McClain, or a white woman doesn't call 911 claiming she's being attacked by a black bird watcher in Central Park.

I'm really lucky I'm white, and I shouldn't be lucky because I'm white.

========================

things off this nature happen to white people too, it just doesnt make the news. there was a very similar case to BT last year in the same place, except two people died, and you didnt hear a word about it

hen Zimmerman doesn't think Martin is suspicious,
========================
You realise there is more to thinking someone is suspicious than there race right? Zimmerman himself is part of an ethnic minority.

the bird watcher admitted too having an argument prior to recording. That womans reaction was ridiculous but he wasnt as harshly done by as first seen, they were both wrong.

Cant say ive seen a great deal on EM.

Dave, I assume that even if you think you would be lucky in the US because you're white. You're an English bloke whom i believe lives in Aus(I may be wrong about that). Neither of these places have anything like the kind of issues referred to on this thread.

England has nothing like the level of issues the states has.

But as the OP states, this is about americas gun culture. it wont change. people will continue to lose their lives early. 700m guns. There is no way back for them.

posted on 28/9/20

In total, 650 people were killed in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland last year

You need to understand thats about the same as currently they have in chicago this year, which is one city, and they still have 3 months left to go in the year. now think of all the major cities, thinnk of the amount of violent gun related crime. and you wonder why these things occasionally happen.

So what was suspicious about a 17 yr old boy eating skittles, walking home?

some random person doesn't call 911 on a "suspicious" scrawny introvert who plays violin to homeless animals in a shelter Elijah McClain, or a white woman doesn't call 911 claiming she's being attacked by a black bird watcher in Central Park.

Once again, he asked her to put her dog on a leash, before recording started, then you saw what happened next, could have easily got him killed.

So no, this stuff doesn't happen to White guys nowhere near the scale of black guys.

Similar to BT: "Energy is best spent trying to outlaw, once and for all, law enforcement’s use of no-knock raids, especially when their intended targets are lower-level drug dealers. Louisville voted to ban no-knock warrants in June.

Houston is painfully familiar with the consequences of such reckless tactics. In January 2019, Rhogena Nicholas and Dennis Tuttle were shot to death in a botched drug raid at their Harding Street home when they too tried to defend themselves. Former Houston police officer Gerald Goines was charged with murder after investigators found he had falsified an affidavit to secure the warrant for the raid. In that shooting, the victims were white and Goines is Black"

It was a bit more of an argument than that, by his own admission. Got him killed is a big reach.

And yes it does.

Thanks for proving my point,in the example you gave me, it says the officer (black) was charged with murder! You basically proving my point that if your black and kill white, the rules are different. That should be the case for EVERY officer that kills people but it clearly isnt.

He was charged because he deliberately forged an affidavit.

No it shouldn't. Most police killings are righteous shoots.

The Washington post keeps a log of all police shootings, you'll very rarely find one that isnt warranted.

And that is the difference between us, I don't think a 'righteous shooting ' is even a thing, unless u dehumanised people to objects that deserve to be shot for minor reasons or sometimes no reason , by the whim of individuals. Most of the police killings in the US are not warranted imo.
