He did look good last night in fairness. I would still have serious question marks against him though as Lincoln looked like a pub side. I saw an interview he did after scoring that FA cup winner against Everton, he came across as very entitled and cocky. Garner looks better than him i'd say.
Considering we played a team that have never played before, and a very young player at CB and RB with a debutant at LB, conceding a couple of goals isn't exactly a shocker.
Fabinho was excellent at CB against Chelsea, that's far more of an indicator of what depth we have defensively than a match against Lincoln where we were 4-0 up at half time.

He looks quite decent, has a nice controlled shot on him but there are a few youngsters I’d say around the same age who look better, Garner, Gilmour, etc..
Give us Jones on loan. Cheers.

He's our best prospect by a fair way, will be a top player in the futurem
Scoring 7 leaves gaps in a defence that's never played before together in history.
Close the thread.
Definitely a real worry that we won 7-2 and not 7-0 with a makeshift back line. Oh what will become of the club?
Somebody save it from the impending doom.

You can't tell me Lincoln didn't deserve another 2 goals last night? They missed some really good chances in that second half.

Welcome to entertaining football.
You seems surprised Klopp played VVD (and then Fabinho) next to a 19 year old making his debut? Seems pretty sensible to put some experience next to a lad making his debut to me.
It makes even more sense to have a bit of experience when the rest of the back 4 is another 19 year old and a LB also making his debut.
If VVD got injured then it would be a massive blow, he's our best CB by some distance. But we'd play Gomez and Matip and they would still be surrounded by one of the best goalkeepers in the world, two of the best full backs in the world and have Fabinho shielding in midfield. I think we'd survive.

Matip is injured for a few months isn't he? Good defender but not reliable. Gomez, I feel, is regressing. Not strong enough and gets caught under the ball too much aerially.

Klopp said Matip should be back after the international break so nothing serious. Plus we always have Fabinho to drop back in and a number of CM that can play in a defensive role.
You're entitled to your opinion on Gomez obviously but there's little on-pitch evidence to suggest he's regressing. He has ebbs and flows in form but he's 23, that's to be expected.
You need to stop with this subtle wummery that isn’t very subtle and just come clean....
Whoever this poster really is, he has a very in depth knowledge of Liverpool. It’s almost as if he’s actually a Liverpool fan masquerading as an oppo fan. That would be really fecked up.
Debut at LB, debut at CB, 19yr old RB and 2nd choice keeper...
I am panicking already about the defensive issues we saw last night...panicking I say... PANICKING!!

A failed attempt at dishing the best team in the world.
By a jealous oppo fanboy........
A total mess of a wum effort.
It's so poor and yet took actual effort which is sad
The only thing I'd agree with here is that maybe another CB option could be useful due to Matip's injury issues and Fabinho having to slot in at CB. Maybe another useful CB would be decent, but hardly a worry.
