I listened to the file on four report and it confirms what we all already know, the EFL is not fit for purpose and something needs to be done to protect our clubs for the fans.

Will it happen? who knows, I certainly don't. In the meantime with the effects of COVID-19, a disaster for many clubs could be just around the corner. Let's hope that FV can and want to withstand the financial pressures that are certain to come. That is unless the government and the Premier League are the shining knights that come to the lower leagues rescue.

I'm not sure that either of them will but there are murmurings that the government is being lobbied to take some action and the Premier League is to have a meeting to discuss the situation.

We wait with bated breath to see if anything positive will come from them.

Updated the summer thread. I count 31 pros, 2 out on loan. 23 man squad cap. Do we have to ship 6 out before the deadline? Explains not offering zouma a deal who seems to have left in a fit of pique to.have talks with barrow.

There was a plan to send a good handful out on loan to lower league clubs to play while they still trained with us. That plan is obviously in the bin due to Covid which screws the business plan as we won't get any money from the loans now.

Do you remember the pre Sky and PL breakaway years when clubs had reserve teams who played in regional leagues and sourced players from leagues below where they were. Money flowed all the way down to clubs like Barnstoneworth and Denley who got fifty quid and a bag of footballs for a young player who worked as a butcher’s assistant.

Alas reserves were replaced by an academy and new leagues created for them to play in. Clubs like ours have had to cut the academy out with not a lot left these days now for money to flow down through to the National leagues and beyond the posh elite clubs pay millions for their academy kids now first job a lot have is to learn to speak de English.

The structure of football had been changed for the better they said at the time all those fancy changes were made.
That's progress for you and they wonder why the National teams struggle for qualifying players who are really world class.

Is swie buying Wigan to add to his estates ?

It's you who should be buying Wigan. I'm not in the elite realm that could afford to run any football team. It's hard enough keeping the wife happy.

As for football being changed for the better, the only teams that think that are in the Premiership.

it's not Miller time this weekend we'll just have to drink something else instead.

A quick catch up. A fixture time change. Shrewsbury away 6th October now 5.30 not 7, that's a tenner saved. Yoan zouma signs for barrow. Expect him to have the game of his life against us until he reverts to type. Finally Lloyd Isgrove is injured already and will miss the trip to Doncaster to play harrogate.

What an odd start to the big build up
I fear a bull in a china shop approach and a red card is coming we've got a man possessed as Cpt and now fighting talk with us coming out swinging after taking a few on the chin.
Should we be expecting Andy Todd to sign before kick off.

The last thing we need is players being issued with red cards. Hopefully, the team will be up for it but refrain from getting red cards for silly and dangerous fouls.

Bolton are playing harrogate town tomorrow in a league game. Just let that sink in for a few minutes.

Evatt says "Back to basics". He also says that mentally they are not there along with the fact that the team are not strong enough when defending. It's a pity that the Enigma machine didn't cover mental and physical strength.

Unfortunately I won't be available to sign in for today's game. I have to travel to bolton for my Flu jab and then we will be dining out so I don't expect to be back till late.

I hope that we can get our first win but from results to date we are looking to be the weaker team.
