Closing the gap

Liverpool’s strength is not in their players, it’s in their manager. Even with Sancho we won’t be able to close the gap.

Yeah fair enough I’d agree with that.

We can forget about closing the gap. It's only going to be about top 4 for us.

posted on 28/9/20

Surely the solace you take is that this has been achieved in 4 years. If you would have told me in 2016 id be watching a liverpool team this good id have laughed at you.

It can be done and for a team with the financial and pulling power like united have there is no reason why yous cant get back there.

Personally i dont think ole is the man to take yous there but thats just my opinion.

It's both their players and manager. And also their board and scouting system. They are a well run club from top to bottom.

We need to get a manager the level of Klopp to think about competing. Let's wake up and smell the coffee here. OGS is not beating Klopperty to a premier league title. Good luck if you think otherwise.

Klop is the best manager in the league. Liverpool has built a machine and they just add parts to it making it better.
We are far off. We need a Dof fast and maybe a coach like poch.

Sometimes things just fall into place at the same time and you get a 90's United, 00's Arsenal, Chelsea, 2010-2020 City and the current Liverpool side.

My concern is we aren't doing everything we can to get ourselves back to the top.

Quality manager, better tactics, better players.

posted on 28/9/20

Klopp has done an amazing job, total quality and the team are a reflection of him on the pitch.

Ole is a lovely fella but it’s a total mismatch if anybody thinks he can do the same.

Frightening performance. Scary to think Thiago is yet to come.

Best you avoid watching them, then. Especially with Klipperty being their best player. He should play himself instead, never mind Thiago.

Or we could just stick to having crap transfer windows.

Their team is so well drilled, every player knows their job, even their new signings slot in so well. We’re miles off, with the incompetent board and amateur management, don’t see us closing the gap any time soon unless there’s major changes from the top.

There's clearly no will on behalf of the utd owners to see the required structures like a DOF implemented to get us truly competing again. They've stood by now seemingly unperturbed as we've deteriorated as a force in the game while our fiercest rival newly managed by fellow American sports franchise owners have leaped ahead of us.

Oh come on now, doesn't every top club do the majority of their transfer business in the last 3 days of every window?

I think that they trust Ed to make the decisions unfortunately. And he isn't a football man so it's always going to be a risky strategy. SAF often talked about how well he and Edwards worked together, because Edwards was a football man.

.....

A coach that has never won anything. We need better than Poch. But for now we need to rebuild properly. Not go through the same as we have for the last seven years.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
You’re right, but what comes out of the back end of the rebuild, VC?

Ole slips up and gets himself sacked, then the mooorons that run the club appoint someone like Conte with a completely different style of play who wants to change half of the first team squad again.

And around we go.

Ole has to stay, or we have to get a DoF in place before the next boss is appointed.

Unfortunately, experience tells us that likely neither will happen and three years from now the wholesale squad churn will be underway again.
