You guys need Pochettino in asap. Keeping Ole is just delaying the innevitable and wasting time
You lot are punch drunk now.
If Ole has any chance of taking us there he needs to revert to the style we played in his first 2 months. For some reason we no longer press like we did then nor is our tempo high enough. United's biggest issue is that we play to slow so yes can get organised and read our play. Whenever we do kick it up a few years they can't handle us. But we don't do it enough throughout the games.
Ole deffo doesn’t deserve the sack now. He’s done enough to get more time but the honeymoon period is over and he needs to push on from where he has us
Last season was the poorest PL in terms of quality bar Liverpool and 66 points could get you top 4. I haven’t looked into it but I’d be surprised if many seasons had a top 4 finish for such a low points total. With everyone else likely to not be so bad this year we really imo need to aim for at least 75 points to be in the mix. I’d hope a cup too as it’s the longest we’ve gone without a trophy since the 80s.

To qualify, I’m saying he doesn’t deserve the sack now. But that’s not to say deserves to finish the season if it goes tiits up which I’m sure most would agree

He also needs support from the board.
Liverpool, City, Chelsea, Everton and Spurs have all improved their squads. Wolves and Arsenal have even done more than we have in the market.
He can’t be expected to mount a challenge on the top two when we’re still so far away from them player for player and not seeing improvement in personnel ourselves.

True, but a top manager would take the challenge and rise to it. I bring Poch into the equation and mention that his club didn’t sign a single player for 18 months and still not only took his club into the top 4 (when the standard was higher than last season) and made a CL final.
Not even the more stupid people on here would slate Ole for not winning the league this season. But with what he has in the squad, it’s not impossible to do better than ‘par’ with this squad. A magic manager could get over 85 points. And that would set up next season brilliantly.

haha great shout.
Enjoy!
Without getting into who's to blame and who isn't, we're still short of players. Should Ole be doing better with those he has? Would he do much better with a slightly better squad? Hard to say. But we lack a CB, a DM and a forward from our first XI. Without those, third or fourth is the best we can really hope for and the same would be true with Pochettino or any other manager.
Only a stupid person would argue that there’s no manager that might improve on Ole’s performance.
But if seriously question the wisdom of sacking him now for many reasons, the first being that there’s no guarantee whatsoever that the board would sign a more suitable replacement. They’ve had opportunities to sign both better *and* more suitable coaches during the post-SAF era. Why would we expect them to do something sensible this time?
And we’re back to the squad churn argument. We now have the best, youngest and strongest squad we’ve had since SAF retired. Bringing in a new manager presents the opportunity for yet another change in direction and squad overhaul.
We also have a combination of the clearest direction and greatest fluidity in our play since certainly LVG’s second year and arguably since even before SAF left.
He *is* building something. There’s a blueprint there, and we made progress with it last season. Will it be enough? I have no idea. But he’s already shown me more than our previous three managers, None of whom I thought deserved to be sacked as early as they were.
Wouldn’t surprise me it the points needed to get top four is around the same again this season, Rob. With the schedule what it is I don’t think clubs will keep their players fit enough to get the consistency for more than that. But there could well be about six clubs that potentially could get top four.
Bringing in a new manager presents the opportunity for yet another change in direction and squad overhaul.

I see nothing wrong with this if they’ll be getting rid of Maguire, Jamed and AWB.
It's all well and good signing some better players with the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Donny van de Beek and now potentially Sancho, but there is little/no point if you don't have a top manager managing and improving these players. I don't see Ole as that manager, not even close.
Interesting how people are starting to ask questions regarding Pep at City about how many players has he improved over the last 12-18 months? I'd argue the likes of Sterling, De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva have had their games taken to the next level, but struggling after that really. Same question asked about Ole, he's been here a while now, how many names can you rattle off saying he's improved their game?
When you compare it with what Poch did with players like Kane, Son, Alli (at one point), Walker, Rose etc. Even looking at Ancelotti now with players like Calvert-Lewin for example. You need a top manager to manage the top players and to take the potentially top players to that level. Ole hasn't shown enough in my opinion to justify why he will do that.
Knowing our luck Poch will go to one of Chelsea and City and win the league with them while we faf around in the post SAF headache age. Add to that Liverp20l happening this season 😢
Klopp really was the one that got away. Imagine getting the chance to bring him in and pitching him the ‘Disneyland’ idea 😒
I love Keano but Klopp biiitchslapped him after the game and it was sad seeing such a huge personality at a rival. He would work wonders with any of the top 6 imo.

Though it may have been happening, we didn't see a great deal of this in Pep's first season at City - a lot of the talk was about him struggling to get "average" players to play the way he wanted. You could argue Martial, Rashford, Fred and McTominay have all improved under Ole and Greenwood has been brought in successfully.
Imo deffo Martial has improved. It’s arguable that Rash has as he’s been up and down for a lot of Oles reign just as he was under Jose.
It’s a tough one with McT and Fred. The talk is of a lack of depth outside the first 11. If those two were really as improved as said they’d be good enough to give the other midfielders a rest and keep Matic out of the side.

I agree with about Pep and in fairness, he did what any top manager would do, brought in the better quality who could play how he wanted and then developed one of the greatest sides in PL history. Fair game, but it's almost like they have reverted back to when Pep was first there where the average players are the hinderance again.
I don't actually think any of them have improved, maybe other than Fred really. Much like United, they all just seemed to hit a purple patch but have gone back to just being average again. Martial only does it when he wants, Rashford doesn't know what he wants to be, Greenwood looks like a talent but him and McTominay are just as inconsistent as United. The only one you can argue is Fred really, but probably because he was so poor when he first joined and now he seems to have found his feet. Point is, Ole hasn't taken any of these players to the top level, he hasn't made anybody think "he's gone from making so and so from being bang average to top quality".
There’s been players that have improved under Ole, in fairness. Martial, Rashford, Greenwood, Fred, McTominay, Lindelof and Shaw off the top of my head.
It’s shocking seeing our full back options compared to others
Spurs actually have some good attacking full backs and together cost less than AWB.
