The fact Trump couldn't bring himself to condemn the new KKK of America, says it all.

It most certainly was not a call too arms ffs.

With that said, yes, that's where they are heading.

The left hate the right, the right hate the left. Trump, biden, krusty the clown, it doesnt matter. They are too divided in both social and economic points of view. No one is gonna bridge that gap. Started under obama and now they are here.

Yep

Nailed on certainty

I feel sorry for the people in the middle and apolitical people who will get caught in this crossfire.

The USA is the most disunited country in the western world. The NRA have bought politicians and they in turn allow people to bear arms and shoot. Sick place. Their political choices are very very poor.

Does anyone know if American politics dominates the news in the rest of Europe or other parts of the world like it does here

It used to be a side note on the main news, now it’s the “main news”

No chance, and tbh the only reason we do it is ratings. The us public couldn't care less about what is going on over here. Our public apparently do.

Probably, but how far behind are we? Brexit revealed a lot of divisions and the pandemic is doing the same, in a stranger and more complicated way.

I dont think were even close to America's level of division, and even if we get there, we don't have 700 million guns in the hands of civilians.

Not sure I agree wity your first comment.

"Proud Boys organizer Joe Biggs wrote: "President Trump told the proud boys to stand by because someone needs to deal with ANTIFA... well sir! we're ready!
"Trump basically said to go f*** them up! this makes me so happy."
I think he thinks it is a call to arms.

True. We'll fight our civil war in true British fashion: pub brawls and social media satire.

Great documentary, the current situation is not something that hasn't been seen before, arguable that it was worse before.

It's in the USA DNA. Yankees vs Confederates, White supremists vs every other kant, slavery, etc etc

All very sad and currently inflamed by the Trumpet man

Didn't see the debate, but sounds like it was a real mud slinging farce, with Trump in full on Twitter mode, constantly interrupting.

Watched a 45 minute live webinar online yesterday re the Presidential election, that my financial advisors hosted with a couple of US-based experts. Both said that, although the polls and their heads were saying Biden, their gut was saying Trump might still sneak in again. Not sure I could stomach another 4 years of that dangerous clown ... suspect Melania is thinking the same.

America needs unity hopefully the election will surprise people in the UK who spout from their own political viewpoint, and give a clear direction the American people want to move in

Trump will win. The riots have seen to that.

Polls said hilary by a landslide. Did not happen. Hopefully in 4 years both parties will have better candidates.

We don't have democracy anymore, neither here or there so lets not laugh at them when we're on the same path.

I would vote for anyone in a UK election that was willing to give us a representative democracy, we need PR, we need campaign finance laws, data laws all tightened and power taken from the corporations back to the people. Clamping down on fake news, think tanks, personalised voter targeting. Getting out of this will be a nightmare.

The Corporatocracy needs to end.

I don't think we're close to the US, their divide seems drawn on deeply ingrained ideological differences.

In the UK we were deeply divided on Brexit, it was rare you came across someone without a strong opinion one way or another but I think it was an issue as opposed to drawing of ideological lines.

We just don't have the number of issues that divide so clearly. The US have race, health care, gun rights/controls, immigration, abortion, environment - almost all seem to split right down the democrat/republican line. It's almost like football tribalism.

I don't think the UK has the number of divisive issues. Or at least I really, really hope we don't.

The experts I listened to yesterday both made the same comment. If Trump gets in, the BLM protests will have played a significant part. Totally plays into his hands, as the Law and Order guy (aye, seriously) ... importantly with a lot of older black voters (conservative, religious), who are totally turned off by the violent, destructive aspects of the protests.
