It's weird because you would have thought given the Galzers experience with NFL and the structure there, they would be all for it.
In the NFL you have a general manager who is the equivalent of the DoF, and then the head coach.
Ed clear has them eating out of his hand.

I think we sometimes look at a DoF as a solution to other problems - namely, Ed.
City were held up as an example of this approach, aplitting recruitment and coaching, and it seemed to be the best way to go... but does it look that way now? City's attempt at buying a back four has been laughable.
Klopp seems more involved in player selection and personally, I'd be more comfortable with a manager having that input.
That's not to say that we don't need someone to fill a gap, but I think the scope of their job needs to be considered carefully.

Im sure I read that Klopp was overuled regarding the purchase of Robertson and Salah which indicates a more measured and balanced approach at liverpool.

You can't have a manager just coming in and buying whoever they want, but equally, they must have some say.
That said, I'm still not convinced that Pep has as little involvement as someone would have us believe.
Sometimes it's put across as if one day he turned up for training and John Stones was just standing there.

But I do like living in Europe. When we visit daughter 2 in Bordeaux it's easy to visit Spain
