One of either Spurs or Arsenal are seemingly going to miss out on this. Who will it be, and surely it’ll be catastrophic to the one who misses out?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
the obvious choice is spurs

posted on 20/10/20

What happens if Leeds, Everton and Villa become really good again over the next couple of seasons while Spurs continue their decline back to mid table? Would they be favoured over Spurs?

Or how about it's only teams that have won the PL? Then Leicester gets in ahead of Spurs. Or if the club has to have won a trophy in the last decade. Then Wigan will be favoured over Spurs.

Any team that does not have a ground capable of holding 60,000 cannot be classed as a big side, so would not be in it.

-----------------------------------------

So size of stadium ahead of size of trophy room/trophies won then, denotes what a big club is.

Interesting take on it.

An 18 team Euro League based on capacity would feature:

Barcelona
Dortmund
Real Madrid
Ac Milan
Inter Milan
CSKA Moscow
Fatih Karagümrük S.K.
Panathanaikos
Olympiakos
Munich
Manu
Hertha Berlin
Lazio
Roma
Dinamo Kiev
Qarabag
Atletico
Marseille

Super League indeed

The Stadium's do have to actually be proper state of the art Stadia. And not meccano set stadiums, as a lot of those clubs have. A super league needs super stadiums.

Why can't they compete in both leagues?

posted on 20/10/20

Just send Penchester United and Livarpool away to play on their own, in their own little league, and let everybody else get on with it.

Nobody will miss them, and English football will be way better for it.

This has never been about league positions.

At the end of the day, it's all about the relative marketability of club "brands" across the global TV markets.

Just look at how the original Premier League "Top 2" was repackaged as a "Top 4". Then it became the "Top 6". All the way to the current madness known as the "Top 8". All simply to accommodate Arsenal's dwindling fortunes over the years.

The crazy thing about this proposed "European Super League" is that a club like Arsenal could end the next 2 PL seasons in 12th place and still have a guaranteed seat at the table.

So kick out Barca as the Camp Nou is a dump?

Probably best to kick out the two Milan teams seeing as the San Siro is about to be demolished and replaced with a smaller stadium.

Pretty much Every other team there plays in a modern, stadium built or remodeled for the 21st century.

So boot out Milan’s and Barca and add the teams with the next 3 biggest, modern stadia.

Benfica, Zenit and West Ham.

Yeah, I’m not feeling this criteria you’re wanting on determining a big team. Seems like a $hite competition

Er no West Ham's is not better than the new WHL, and is also smaller. The new WHL has been voted by many as the best club stadium in Europe. So would definitely qualify.

Obviously Spurs would miss out. But Europe hates the dopesters, Man City and could be leaving them out of the equation.

You’ve changed the criteria again!

First it was 60k+ stadium
Then it’s 60k+ with decent WiFi And cheese room
Now it’s 60k+ with decent WiFi and cheese room and not called west ham

Now you have spurs in Europe playing qarabag, Fatih and CZKA.

Good job, you’ve taken the CL and turned it into The Europa Second Division

The premier league without Liverpool, Man United and Arsenal would be 500m worth of a broadcasting deal for the next 3 year. Those 3 clubs with the addition of Chelsea, Spurs, Man City and Everton is the main reason it is worth 10 billion.

Trying to get Spurs in on a technicality, as opposed to being an actual top tier European team.

Embarrassing.
