Yes he is doing a lot of good work and should applauded for it.

It is also good for Penchester United, he is currently the media golden boy, so there is no wonder the referees give him the benefit of doubt and a penalty kick every time he falls over.

Fantastic young man.
A credit to his family and club.

Fair play to Rashford. Interesting to note that he was never so publicly outspoken before Ole though. However, not even I can give credit to Ole for what Rashford has done for children. Maybe Rashford himself does, but who really knows.

Respect to Marcus Rashford.

Deary me, Talk about being bitter, Not his fault that Spurs bottled a 3-0 lead against West Ham last Sunday, I would suggest that you concentrate on your own team instead of abusing Marcus Rashford, Just a thought.

Don't waste your breath on Billy.
He's a crackpot.

Yes I do think he deserves a lot of credit.

However, I'm not a fan of the honours system so that isn't of interest to me.

What is interesting is:

It’s a measure of how stupid this government thinks we are that 10 days after giving Marcus Rashford an MBE for his work in making sure starving kids get food to eat, they voted to stop Marcus Rashford making sure starving kids get food to eat.

To be honest its gone way overboard the way United fans have been going on about him in recent weeks. Just give it a rest please we are all sick of reading about it. A bit like some Liverpool fans with VVD according to the OP.

That is all tongue in cheek by the way, fair play to him for what he is doing and trying to use his status in society to help those less fortunate

Denying underprivileged children the continuation of free school meals during a global pandemic/recession is a new low. All credit to Rashford.

Maybe the government are a bunch of heartless cuunts who thought Rashford only did this to get a MBE and are confused as to why he's still trying to help underprivileged children.

Hows life north of the border mate?

We enter a 6 week level 5 (most stringent) lockdown from today.

Wales (not sure about Scotland and NI) have already ensured that children who receive FSM will be getting payments (via their parents) during school holidays.

I’m pleased about this, but the system isn’t perfect, and more work needs to be done.

Why do loads of Tories say that hungry kids is all the parents fault and their tax money shouldn't be wasted on these lay abouts children, but they're grand with track and trace debacle and PPE contract awarding. Weird bunch.

That's entirely possible! That's how they work I'm sure.

Babyen - I'm pleased our gov are doing the right thing. I'm on board the Indy train now as well as this 'union' is doing nothing for us IMO. I pity my English friends too who live and work in places that Johnson and Co have no real interest in.

Think we're likely to follow suit mate.

Four week partial lockdown here at the moment. Understand could well be a further two week 'circuit breaker' before Christmas.

Wales have taken a step in the right direction, but there are inconsistencies from County to County.
In the county I work, direct payment is made into the parents bank account. This can be misused, and there is no guarantee that the parents will spend it on food for their children. Other counties have used a voucher system, but there have been problems with using them at some food outlets (this happened in England during lockdown, and got far more coverage in the media).

Like I said, step in the right direction, but more work needs to be done.

It should be noted too, that Wales have made a decision to carry this scheme until next year’s summer holiday. We’ll see what happens after that.

Wonder if anyone living in the Tory council area email your local one and ask him to explain his position

Small steps and some things to improve then. I suppose that's a start.

Stay safe during this lockdown too from tomorrow. Let's hope the 'Firebreak' will work!

I mean, given that we're in the midst of an economic collapse you can see why the government would reject a motion to extend free school meals to not only kids, but also to individuals on universal credit or equivalent.

They'll be shelling out billions on furlough and other financial support schemes in the coming weeks and months. There's not an endless pot of money.

Agreeing to extend free meals for kids in the first place was a step in the right direction, and hopefully in time more support can be provided to those children and their families.

The government have awarded contracts to a host of businesses (in regard to CV19) that have no prior experience in supplying PPE.

"On 27 March Government opened its portal inviting tenders for PPE on the gov.uk website and received 24,000 offers from 16,000 suppliers. It has spent – and this is the Treasury’s own figure – a staggering £15 billion. And, surprisingly, three of the biggest beneficiaries were companies specialising in pest control, a confectionery wholesaler and an opaque private fund owned through a tax haven."

https://goodlawproject.org/news/the-ppe-fiasco/

The government have also ramped up it's spending to the arms industry. "The MoD paid the 10 companies a total of £712.4 million for contract work in just four months, in comparison to £679.6 million in the same period the previous year. "

https://bylinetimes.com/2020/10/20/government-gives-arms-industry-extra-tens-of-millions-of-pounds-during-covid-19-pandemic/

They've also spend over £8 billion so far on Brexit preparations (with tens of billions to follow over the years to come).

Providing food to underprivileged children is the government equivalent of me finding fifty pence down the back of my sofa.

Its not this Government that are stupid it those people who voted Conservative.

Pretty sure that most people who patronise Rashford with their empty platitudes on social media of his noble work in this area voted for this Government.

Same for the door step applauding of Nurses. They probably cheered with the Tory MPS when Boris & Co refused Nurses a pay rise in Parliament.

Sorry but can’t agree on this one. The Government are NOT a disgrace for declining free school meals
