No you didn’t. And Mourinho’s teams have, and will, play good football. But for a lot of the time it’s as described. 15 years of evidence for this. And you only have to go back to last season to see it for Spurs.
I don’t think it matters that I’m not a Spurs fan. I know Spurs fans that think differently to you, there are many on this very site, and fans that feel the same as you.
I just don’t agree with the notion that it’s entitled and spoiled not to be a fan seeing this stuff on the pitch and being exasperated by it, whether in the stadium or on a forum. Football fans aren’t homogeneous, they all have different values and priorities.
Of course not all fans are the same. I've acknowledged that. But if you can't appreciate that there's common themes and widely held opinions we're not going to get anywhere.
Of course there are. But even where these club values are something that most fans place huge importance on, you’ll still see large swathes of them disregard where Mourinho is concerned. Which is fine, he’s one of the most successful managers of all time, and all fans want success. But my point is that the fans that still hold those values in higher regard aren’t entitled.
Sorry Gezza-Spurs but the capitulation against West Ham was inherently Spursy, and just shows me absolutely nothing has changed.
I think we’ll have a decent season, but I’ve seen nothing to suggest we are about to end our trophy drought.
That's fair. Though I think it definitely applies to a section of our fans maybe 'entitled' is a bad word for it if we're specifically talking about concerns of the identity of our club. Could be 'deluded' is better, because for all the exasperation of seeing a performance that's not exciting what about the exasperation of years of not winning anything? How long do you have to keep trying the same thing and failing before you try something else? 20 years?? It's been more like 60 since we won the league FFS.
I do see what you're trying to say intellectually you have a point, but it does matter that you're not a Spurs fan in the context of this debate.

Definitely have a few entitled fans, who I won’t mention here...
Yeah I understand that. I think the issue though is that a lot don’t see Mourinho as the trophy guarantee that many others do.
In the context of this debate it doesn’t matter about being a Spurs fan. These same arguments were had by Madrid, United and Chelsea fans. Again, it goes back to the point of club values and fan priorities.
Even taking these clubs and Mourinho out of the equation, it’s an aged old football debate. You’ll get this same argument in Sunday league.
Hang on. It very much does matter. As you said, fans aren't homogeneous.. Real fans are notorious caants. United fans really are spoiled - winning the Europa would be a huge deal for Spurs, not something that be disregarded as you lot did because it wasn't done in the 'right way'.
You can't pretend to understand the mentality of a Spurs fan any more than you could a Liverpool fan. For all the similarities we're different. We're like big families. They're caants but they're my caants.
One thing I do know about football is that clubs go through eras of success and failure. The mentality of the fans will change gradually over time. What this article is referencing is that we should probably be changing our perception of plucky underdogs who play nice. We've got one of the best stadiums in the world and pay top money for world class players. It's time to be proud of that and think of ourselves as a big club that should win stuff first, and play nice second.
It really doesn’t. It’s a debate among all fanbases within the context of their club’s aspirations. It’s literally had at the lowest levels of football. Fans of certain clubs will veer towards one more than the other - though I’ve always rejected this idea as it’s not always a case of one or the other - but it doesn’t change the point that performance vs results is a debate that every fan base around the world has.
Yeah I'm not trying to dispute that performance vs results isn't a common theme among football fans. What I'm saying is that in the context of this debate - Spurs fans' mentality in particular - you don't have an informed opinion about the pre-existing mentality and the feelings attached to not winning anything for so long. Context is important. As I said - it would be very different and this subject wouldn't be up for debate if we had been winning stuff.
I do take your point that Mourinho isn't a guarantee of trophies. But he is a guarantee of the mentality that winning trophies comes before style. And in this context, as a Spurs fan, that is most certainly a worthwhile and very appropriate shift considering where we are as a club. I mean, how rich do we have to get before we start acting like those entitled Liverpool and Real Madrid fans? We should be pushing the club to hire winners and shift players that aren't up to it, not moaning or hanging onto some ideal because we like them. They failed. Move on!
And in the context of the debate I still don’t think it matters. Because as the debate does exist, pointing out the other position is valid is the relevant point. Football fans have shared values regardless of the clubs they support.
It's ok you don't understand Spurs fans. I don't expect you to. Have a nice evening
It sounds like you don’t understand football fans. It’s funny, you actually sound like the spoilt one, despite levelling that at everyone else. Have a nice evening.
Heads gone. Read back mate. You're ignoring what I'm saying and just going on about football fans despite saying yourself they're not all the same.
FOOTBALL FANS AREN'T HOMOGENEOUS. YOU CAN'T SAY SPURS FANS THINK A CERTAIN WAY.
FOOTBALL FANS ALL THINK THE SAME. I KNOW HOW SPURS FANS THINK I'VE TALKED ABOUT FOOTBALL BEFORE
Alright Gary. I'm bored at work tbf. What's gwarnin?
Yes because I disagree with the idea that these people are spoilt and that unless you support Spurs you can’t understand, that’s nonsense.
Didnt have work today, and what a wonderful day it was
Lucky barsteward. I'm heading to the pub after work. <covidpint>

Apparently that major WUM Adrian Durham was talking about it on Talksport yesterday and mocking us....no surprise there....but apparently Spurs fans were calling in in numbers agreeing with him. Ridiculous.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
HTF can a supporter of Peterborough mock anybody. Have his team ever won a bean?
OP
It might actually help if the supporters get behind the team, instead of being so negative all the time, everytime Spurs don't win.
Go on the Leeds board right now, and they are all singing from the same hymnsheet. Not for them negative nonsense, wondering if it will all go tiiiits up, they are enjoying it right now.
