my gran is 86 and has cancer, says shes no getting a vaccine.
thinks they just want to test it on old people first in case it doesn't work they can kill them all off, tried to explain that old people get it first as they are higher risk.
she's also a homophobic old racist.
so this makes perfect sense tbh.

Which is an excellent reference point.
The Thalidomide scandal lead to the current framework for the regulation of the development, testing and manufacturing of active pharmaceuticals for human use.
The very framework which has somehow had its timeline reduced from an average time of about ten years to less than one year.
No matter what you say any vaccine that comes out in 2020 or 2021 has not been tested in a 'normal' way.
Which is fine to a dergree if you throw resource and money at it to speed it up. But there are parts of the process that doesnt work for.
I still cant get my head round how they have managed to reduce phase 3 clinical trials down from 1-3 years to must have only been a couple of months.
I would genuinely love to know how they can say the vaccine is safe with the same degree of certainty they would get by monitoring hundreds of thousands of patients for a couple of years.
I can only assume there is a reliance on advanced computer modelling techniques?

I wouldnt be in a hurry to take it right now tbh.
But by the time it comes round to me there will probably be about another 6 months worth of data.
I would be more comfortable taking the vaccine by that point if we have a more rounded safety profile and we know more about potential side effects, possible interactions with other medications, impact of underlying conditions and other risk factors etc.
I would imagine right now if you are on any reasonably powerful medication you might not be allowed to get the vaccine. I know that some people who have had steroid injections for hay fever recently have been told they cannot get the vaccine for 12 months.

My daughter came out at 11. I am quite pleased about it, to be honest. Her BFF at the moment is a MTF transgender.
I guess my daughter is just playing the long game there.
These things are nothing to weans now. People like my Daily Mail-reading dad have got very fixed views on them but they, like he, won't be around for much longer.
