Most of this fuelled by hate and something uglier
----------------------------------------------------------------------
the amount of personal animosity he attracts is genuinely bizarre, i've seen one poster attack him for his penalty style "being all about him".

as for stuff like this - "He’s been rubbish at United and has blamed the club for his performances at every turn" - where would you start, even if you had the time and the patience?

i suppose the obvious retort is to ask the poster to show one piece of evidence that shows that pogba has blamed the club at all, let alone "at every turn"...but to be honest lambeau leap should stick to the american version of football, he seems to know nothing at all about the soccerball version.

Pogba?
by United we win (U19958)8 December 2020
COMMENT ON THIS ARTICLE
This time last year I’d of been worried about him leaving as we had no quality in midfield to replace him. However, with Fernandes and Beek we have quality now and hopefully will sign another quality midfielder with any pogba money we get. Fernandes is also a better and more productive player than pogba so hopefully we can sell him ASAP. The issue we have is that matic is old and Fred and Mctominay are not up to standard, so additions are needed when pogba leaves.

He just doesn't have the desire.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
this is just lazy, unfounded nonsense. let me guess, if martial smiled a bit more it would show that he cared too?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No, Martial needs to make more runs off the ball. He is too static.

And its not unfounded nonsense. For the majority of his time at United he hasn't done enough of the dirty side of the game. You can disagree all you like, but I have seen it with my own eyes. We should really have just played him as a no.10 and removed all defensive responsibilities from him, as most of the time he shirks his duties.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That spot's taken now, by a guy that does all the fancy stuff and still puts himself about trying to put a foot in when we don't have the ball.

I don't get why people persist in assuming that great talent makes a great player. Are they frightened he'll move on and develop a work ethic somewhere else?

BTW, I like the guy, but he does my head in 8 games out of 10.

Do you think he's absolved of responsibility that a midfield three of himself, Bruno and Matic is not good enough?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sorry mate, I don't get the question.

I’m asking you that if we’re both agreed that that midfield trio is not good enough, are you absolving Pogba of any responsibility for that?

In my view, his inadequacies are part of the problem and it’s not good enough just to simply say that the club should buy someone better to play alongside him, given his transfer fee.

I don't think we are going to agree on this one mate, I think I've been very clear about how to solve the problem in my previous posts. By your logic, you are saying that "If I spend 500m on Mbappe, he should be able to adapt to being a world class CB, RB, or DM because he has the physical attributes. What it sounds like is that you're saying Pogba is somehow deliberately sabotaging the team by playing poorly when there is no evidence for that at all. Let's focus on what we know, not what we dont know. His team mates and his manager seem to think he is a model professional so now we have to ask if some fans have an agenda against our own player.

Bruno has was poor against Burnley but no fan here is questioning his professionalism or suggesting he is taking advantage of the club.

Sorry but that’s a blatant and intentional misinterpretation of my point.

I’m asking Pogba to show more discipline and energy in his role. I’d say he did the former very well for France.

I’m not asking Pogba to play in goal.

Pogba has been poor more often than he’s been good. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves with comparisons with Bruno.

Pogba is not that kind of player. If you want that kind of football you play a Mctominay or a Fred. Pogba is a techy player but he is also a big lanky oaf who is can't accelerate very quickly. Look at his run for the Burnley goal. He has desire to get there but his run is so laboured. Some players are just slow, i.e. Harry Maguire, and some players are more techy, I.e. Berbatov,, Mata, they are not going to get about the pitch in the same way that Rashford or a Keane would do because they impact the game with their brain. Look at how calm Pogba is when he plays those passes. It's not always about energy.

Then he certainly wasn’t worth the money.

It doesn't correlate with the "big lanky oaf who is can't accelerate very quickly" you described in the above post.

I can't subscribe to the notion that Pogba is not physically gifted. When he puts the effort in he can hold off most in midfield and is terrific in the air. His long legs also eat up the ground when he carries the ball into space.
