Just don’t have the players

Even if we had a better defence it wouldn't change the fact that we're poverty to watch. If anything having a poorer defence at the moment is beneficial because the only time we look like attacking in a second half is when we concede.

Truthfully though the whole style needs to change. Why can't it just be more like it was pre-West Ham? I was liking what I saw then. The performances since, particularly any second half in which we've had a lead, have been an absolute chore and we don't create anything. Tightening up the defence wouldn't change the fact that we'd still be pushed back and losing possession to sides we should beat comfortably.

The question is, why does Mourinho persist with players that do not suit his tactics, or persist with tactics that do not suit his players. The fans can see a lot of our problems clear as day, so why doesn`t the manager and why doesn`t he rectify it either in game or on the training pitch.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This is it, in a nutshell.

Don's right that Spurs don't have the players to play Mourinho's preferred style. But that makes it a management issue - he isn't going to suddenly magic 5 top quality defensive players out of thin air. He has to adapt. He can't just expect to buy players until he has the right mix. He has to do what every other coach in the world does with the players at his disposal - COACH THEM. He hasn't, and that's his fault.

1. The players can't play the style the manager wants

2. The manager can't coach the style the players suit

It's almost like it was a terribly thought-out appointment

How many FA Cups did Arsenal win in Wengers last years?

They still weren’t happy with it.

Cup runs are fun and every team should aim to win them, but winning them does not equal or mean sustained growth and progression.

Will I be happy if we win the league cup? Yes, of course. Will that satisfy us with Jose for a few more years? No probably not.

I want long term progression not quick/cheap thrills.

Good luck to Poch but never again. Jose has been with us for just over a year.

It takes time to change the mentality of team and at the same time integrate new players.

Alot of people are jumping the gun with their articles and comments about Jose Out. The time to judge as always is at the end of the season.

I know his tactics are not everyone's cup of tea but all managers need time. I will always be Jose In as long as he is wearing his Spurs pajamas.

What I can't be bothered with is another sacking and transition period of another AVB, Poch or Sherwood.

With that Jose gets this and next season for me. That's three more windows to bring in his players and shift the likes of Sanchez, Aurier, Dier, Winks and whoever else to bring Spurs to the forefront.

If it means sacrificing "entertainment" and pretty football so be it. Take it on the chin and watch a film or something else.

Indeed, Don. He went too defensive after that and now it's sort of stuck with the team and we're incapable of shaking it off and so is Jose. I was even annoyed with the Arsenal game to some extent, how we let them dominate us for a whole second half. This was a side struggling near the bottom.

I'm starting to think Sherwood would get more out of this team right now. He would just focus on the basics in that we have some top attacking talent and should be able to out-attack most other sides in the league with it. Probably lose to the bigger teams but I'd take that over getting dominated by most below league teams and dropping points to them. I reckon Sherwood, if he was to suddenly get the job, would have the same effect Ole did after Mourinho.

Maybe, but we were still playing some exciting attacking football before. Southampton 5-2 for instance.

Whoever you place in charge still has to deal with Sissoko, Winks, can they get the best our Ndombele? Will they improve Dier/Sanchez/Toby and our leaky defence? Stick with Jose.

Ndombele is quality I think we can all now appreciate that, including yourself who used to call him "fatguy". Any manager is going to utilise him.

For all the good Mourinho did in improving the defence it has become leaky again, and I don't care about the defence being tighter if it means our attack isn't going to exist anymore.

I'm literally at the point where I think I want Harry Kane to say he wants to leave to win trophies.

I believe that is one of the only actions that makes the fans so angry that we stop accepting failure season after season. Fans would be on Levys back and quite simply he'd have to deliver a trophy.

If we lost Kane because he wants to win trophies, it changes everything.

Our fans give the club such an easy ride. It annoys me.

My view has consistently been that as soon as we do not get the desired result then our style immediately becomes totally unacceptable. This is on a game by game basis. We have no leg to stand on when we don’t have any intention whatsoever to attack for long periods of a game

It’s pathetic to be honest

too simplistic to say this... we would likely receive 150+ mill so we could actually buy 3 or 4 seriously good players... but i wouldn't trust us to do this.

I don't want him to go. I just believe its the only thing which makes the fans turn. It tells us all what we already know and would make the fans demand change.

Levy hasn't won a single trophy. Arguably with one of the best squads we have ever had.

The club is a failure from the very top, take him out and maybe we can look forward.

Supporting Spurs is a chore at the moment.
