Agreed. Be good for him and us in the long run.

We a need to replace lamela with a creative midfielder who

- is better than lamela
- doesn't constantly get injured like lamela

Eriksen gives us both of those things and also offers us something different by being a player who can dictate things a little bit more but he has some downsides too

- 28 with his best years probably behind him
- big wages
- terrible form for the last 18 months

Basically if we replace lamela with eriksen I'd be pretty happy, if we replace Dele with eriksen I'd be pretty concerned

His terrible form is the bit that worries me the most. He is probably a better professional than Dele but when a player takes his eye off the game, levels drop and it is not an overnight fix to get back to where he once was.

I'd be interested to know why it has not worked out for him at Inter. How long would it take him to recapture his old form? Does he walk straight back into the team? Over who? No from me.

I'd have him back in a heartbeat. I think people forget just how good he was for us.

Towards the end the whole team wasn't playing brilliantly and he just got scapegoated because the had the "audacity" to suggest he wanted to try something new. I don't begrudge him that at all, he was a great servant for us. I noted on MOTD2 last night he is still second on the assist chart over the last 5 seasons behind KDB.

He's not over the hill like Bale so there is no reason why he cant find his form again. He needs to play regularly though so whether coming back would be a good move for him, I'm not sure.

I`d take him back but we also have other areas in need of urgent upgrade.

We need a top class RB to replace Aurier, a top class CB to replace Sanchez and a top class technical central midfielder with a range of passing and a good engine to replace Winks and / or Sissoko.

On a side note the bloke who has been getting the team selections spot on has said Dele is desperate to leave.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Of course he faking is, be a few more by the end of the season
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The question is. Are you leaving Dave?

Ask yourselves this: If Eriksen was in great form, would he come back to us or look to come back to us? Would Inter let him go?

No

Therefore, I believe he is struggling badly and this is an escape.
Ok, it may workout for him with us, but are you prepared to give him time and effort to get him back to his best?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This is the trouble with Spurs. We bring in so many players who need time to get going. We don't get players who look the finished article and can do a job right here and now often enough.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Absolutely spot on.

We got PEH, Berg and Reggi all come in and hit the ground running.

We bring in Eriksen, will he be the same?
He might!!

But at the mo, he is struggling at Inter in the Italian league, so think if he would make an impact in the PL again? OR will we have the resources to say, you know what we bring him over and give him time if he needs it? I don't think we can afford to do that.

If we get him on loan, what would be the purpose? Where will he fit in? Will he boost the time chances?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

MoreSpurs, Reggie and PEH I totally agree with you, but where do you get that Bergwijn is on fire and has hit the ground running ? He plays a lot because Lucas is so bloody average and Bale just can’t seem to settle, but I wouldn’t say Bergwijn has hit any ground running.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
mate, how can you forget Berg's swivel and goal, the first one that opened the door for a victory against City?
In his first goal, mate. Up and running. He has been hampered by a muscular injury but on Sat, I was literally blown away with his technical showing. Give him a break dude, he'll get us to the next level.

I did that peice the other day on Dele, after Marine.

https://www.ja606.co.uk/articles/viewArticle/430216

The consensus was he played very well and was subbed by a happy Jose. I questioned whether Jose would have appreciated the somewhat showboaty nature of Deles game that night.

He hasnt been seen in a squad since and it begs the question (1) was Jose unimpressed by Dele's flashness in that game or (2) does Dele think he's proved something in that game and failed to follow it up with performances in training ?

Any idiot would know that Jose will be impressed by effort & intensity and not flicks and tricks, no matter hw effective the latter are. HE will be looking for the former qualities in training so if Dele turns up thinking he's the bee's knees and is all style and not enough effort then I'd expect Jose to drop him.

Its a real shame. He was "rumoured" to be starting vs Fulham and never made the pitch even though i think a Dele for NDombele swap is a good one.

Not to make the squad vs Sheff Utd is a kick in the nuts, but may be one he deserves. We'll never know!

Next squad vs Stevenage, or St. Evenage as the locals call it, will be telling. Come on Dele. Force your way in, make it happen son, you have the gift to do this.

If we got the old Eriksen then yeah, he’d be great on the counter with Kane and Son but if it’s the current Eriksen then I’d rather play Sissoko

Totally confused by that last paragraph. We're not playing Stevenage so why are you talking about the squad against Stevenage? Is it some weird joke about Wycombe?

No way are we after Eriksen...

He just doesn’t fit the Jose profile...

His form nose dived about the same time as Dele Ali’s

Never forget that game against Olympiakos... when he was woeful...

Only us Spurs fans continually look backwards, drooling over past players. If he wanted to be here, he wouldn’t have left. It’s not like an 8 year gap like Bale. What is it, 18 months?
