Scotland's national clinical director has warned civil servants not to book a holiday abroad until 2022, a leaked video has revealed.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Read that this morning

I agree with this lockdown but I have always had doubts that it actually works as i being evidenced right now.

What I expect however is more of blaming people for not following the rules despite every bit of evidence suggesting people are at their highest level of compliance since this thing started.

And then the the cry for harsher and longer lockdown, cos well if it didn't work last time it must surely work next time

All the while completely ignoring any contrary views from very capable and eminent scientists who don't set off on flights of fancy as a norm.

certainly helped in NZ, Oz I remember being told in various places it was impossible for the UK to do this just a few short months ago too
----------------------------------------------------------------------

We’ve been through this before.

NZ is an entirely different concept.

You espouse the severe lockdowns and measures until whenever?

There is absolutely no chance compliance is as high as first lockdown.

Looking out my window at the traffic tells me that
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Despite practically all the expert opinion saying exactly that?

Saw that on Sunday. What I don’t get is why we aren’t diverting customs guys doing the incoming goods to doing the outgoing and if the cvnts want to argue about it then they can go look at their requirements. Seems only fair?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Why we are giving the EU 6 months grace is beyond me. We should insist on exactly the same set of rules.

This is indesputable.

I have worked all the way through the year.

The roads were absolutely dead first lock down.

Probably up at about 30-40% of normal levels now.

no I don't
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Neither do I. And it's not working in my opinion. Well, it certainly isn't worth it that's for sure.

yes half measures will never work
----------------------------------------------------------------------

So you want harsher and stricter lockdowns?

posted on 21/1/21

Harsher and stricter is what we should have done in the first place along with stricter travel restrictions yes.

That horse has well and truly bolted though.

posted on 21/1/21

Looks like you can look out the window and tell.

Data from rac says current traffic levels are similar to may when restrictions were being eased.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

And the repercussions of that have also long since passed unless we are going to say that the thousands of cases we are seeing now is a result of not locking down for an extra two weeks back in March?

Which would defy the laws of mathematics.

Also bearing in mind we are in the third and harshest lockdown since back then.

Quite a leap there.

No I am saying that the roads when I go to and from work are considerably busier than they were during the last lock down. And I would estimate that the traffic is roughly a third of its normal peak levels.

That is all I am saying.

I am not sure why you are so keen to extrapolate that out to mean more than I just said.

It's where they are going to and from that's more likely to cause issues

Sorry

What I'm saying is that there are many who just want more, longer and stricter lockdown with harsher punishments and cite us not locking down earlier back last March as the reason behind it

Work?

Looking after a relative in their bubble?

Home?

As has been said it's an extremely crude barometer to compliance.
