Champions win the title because they scrape games whilst not playing well. If we scrape a 1-0 tonight then it shows our title credentials. If we score 3 or 4 more and play well, then it suggests that we are not title challengers as that's not what champions do.
I would hope we don't change too many players, Bruno got a decent rest against Liverpool.
I would start with VDB again though to give him back to back games and see if it helps.
We could still see a struggle for the initial breakthrough against them tonight if they defend very deep and compact, also I still fear for us defending every set piece.
Hopefully a nice comfortable win though after Citys display to get us back to the top and put some distance between us and the sides below again.
Everton and Leicester should be a good game, shame that's on the same time as us.
Whilst winning games by one goal is important to a veritable title challenge & successfully winning a league, I agree that the amount of times this is happening is not quite a concern but somewhat dents belief in being right up there come April.
I think we need a run of a few games of 3-0, 3-1,4-1s to dispel this current trend.
But we’ll all take each victory as it comes, of course.
Not overly confident for tonight’s game tbh.
I'm my usual pessimistic self about the game, I'm always like this when things are going well, I expect the wheels to fall off.

That’s the bit that’s seems to elude us.
I've watched many Fergie teams constantly eek out results for months till they clinch the title, but I take comfortable wins as a sign of a team in form. I watched Arsenal play Southampton and that's a team that is in form, looking like they could score with every attack.
I know WE ARE GOOD, I just do not know if we are in form or doing the "getting a good result while playing poorly". Tbh I'm the biggest Ole fan but this is an underlying feeling with his teams.
We could do with some to further boost the confidence.. We have controlled a few games (the fulham one springs to mind) but brain farts and a lack of finishing often crops up.
Even the Leeds one was a bit mental when you think back on it!
Fingers crossed for one tonight before a big test on the weekend.
I can genuinely only think of one 'comfortable' league win this season. And even then at one point I was worried about blowing a 4 goal lead.
More comfortable games would be nice. I want to go into games questioning how many we will put past the opponent, not whether we will win or not.
The flipside to this is the when (not if!) we go a goal behind, i have almost full confidence that we can tun it around.. Even the other day against liverpool.
We’re unbeaten in 13 league games dropping just 6 points to the 3 teams currently around us. I don’t think we should be worried too much about not winning games by more than 1 goal. Sheffield United are poor and I’d hope we will score a few but as long as we get the 3 points I won’t be fussed. This run ain’t gonna last forever so just be grateful it’s lasted as long as it has.
Would it be any fun if we didn't screw the pooch and then make another gallant comeback win?
Start fast and score 1st and this game is a formality imo.
