Eh... yeah. Deliberately, just before yon pontificating prat comes on and belittles the source as being a 'left-wing rag'.

Oh FFS - do they not do irony down your way?

Never mind the 'left wing' bit (explained above) but it is amazing that the first few posts pick up on that and not the £52 BILLION in fraud that this govt is overseeing. FFS.

Nah. No I won't. I am of an age when it won't be picking the tab for this fraud.

Damage - me?

Nah. Out on the motorbike today for a beautiful, but somewhat cold, run around Argyll. Dead flat calm lochs.

I'd be more likely to pick up that the story comes from the Daily Mail and therefore should be ignored. Although the fraud story isn't exactly new, everybody knows somebody picking up benefits when working or getting incapacity benefits when fit to work etc. 52 billion seems a bit far-fetched. Did they show their workings or did they just do a big headline with a photo of a foreigner again?

Not like the daily mail to mislead their readers

The article stated (without evidence) that:

"It gives a figure of £29.3billion-£52billion for the annual amount lost by the government, including through the tax and welfare system."

Telling the article was not posted on their twitter feed.

Just had a quick skim through the article.
Firstly “up to” could mean literally any number up to 52 billion.
It goes on to say “ It (the report) gives a figure of £29.3billion-£52billion for the annual amount lost by the government, including through the tax and welfare system.” So somewhere within a 22.7 billion pound range then......

I fecking hate “journalists” that keep doing this sort of scaremongering that the stupid keep lapping up.
