Interesting that bamford said Roberts didn't say anything and it was only when the players saw it again after that they were shocked at how bad it was.
Think the potential concussion and the fact that Roberts didn't make a big deal out of it were probably the reason he got away with it
I can see how the referee was distracted from giving a booking by the nature of the injury to Baldock, which seems to have been genuine. But why VAR didn't then draw this to his attention is a mystery. Even more incredible is that no retrospective action was taken by the FA, especially given that the tackle could have been a life-changer for Roberts.
Like your link says, its not VAR, its the people using it!..
I said when it started in the Premier that there were lots of mistakes being made here, there are still mistakes but not as bad as the first couple of seasons!..
I was disappointed that there wasn't a card given, but shocked when there wasn't at least a yellow, injuring himself or not, there was a crime committed that went unpunished!..

When you see some of the seemingly innocuous challenges that get a yellow, this one seems outrageous that no card was shown at all.

Over here it would have been brought to the Refs attention, VAR would have said there was foul play and advised as to what it saw or said its something he/she should take a closer look at!..
And when oh when are refs going to be made to come out and explain the reasons for their actions in cases like this. The fact that they don't, not only makes them less accountable but diminishes the respect that players and fans alike have for them as a body.

I'm sure i picked up in the commentary of the match, that the ref had a mare in the previous fixture he ref'd. I don't envy them, it's a tough job - but i thought it was an obvious bad foul the second it happened. The only surprise was Baldock coming off worse in the aftermath.
I think Refs have to be more careful these days, one has been susspened for taking Haaland's name!.

i wouldn't be against refs giving a brief presser the same as managers after the game.
it would inform people why certain calls were made.
i'd rather the ref say the reason they missed a call or his views on why the call was made. no reason to put them in a little bubble cloaked in secrecy.

Nope. Don't really see why anyone would want to be one. My brother does it now, and I had friends who did it in high school. They told me if they got away without being sworn at more than three times it was a good day. They refereed U14s.
People get lauded for having a go at referees, and then wonder why so few people want to do it, or why referees resist being placed in public view more.
The fact is, for me, a referee coming out and explaining a decision in the heat of the moment after a game won't convince people that were let down by the decision that it was the right one. I see it as a pretty pointless endeavour, that will just serve to crucify referees publically.

you see them talking to players after the games and they're not taking any sh!t most of the time. i would like to hear their perspective.
then again i'm not one to always have to find fault with the refs. i'd prefer to scrap var altogether while having goal line tech and just let the refs do their job.
