Both managers called this game a "friendly" but it was anything but that as both teams were up for getting the early season bragging rights. It was a very tight match in which both teams strikers struggled a lot but others in the game stepped up. Ndombele got the first goal as good work by Dembele on the wings saw him pass to Ndombele in the centre who was waiting just outside the box and he finessed a low shot into the bottom corner. Chelsea got the equaliser when Zaniolo burst away from the slow snail Busquets in the middle and threaded an inch perfect pass to Mbappe who smashed home the shot. Second half was very even with both teams battling it out in the midfield and both strikers having a mare up front as both Chelsea and Spurs CB's were on top form. Spurs brought on De Bruyne and Icardi and these 2 combined as a bit of space opened up and De Bruyne shot from long range. Oblak could only parry the shot and Icardi was the quickest to react to tap home the rebound. Chelsea did bringing the very talented Aouar and he did have some joy the midfield but a lack of a physical striker cost Chelsea here today. Spurs subs bench is probably the best in the league and it turned the match in their favour. The Spurs manager will have a selection dilemma I'm sure this season.
