No.

Pretty much everyone who I've spoken to about it has told me it's boring as feck. I've just always wanted it for the time off work...

No and I don't want to. All the feedback I've had is that it's boring. Had one person who got a juicy gang related one which seemed decent but on the flip side, had another who had weeks of some financial crime thing which was apparently just incredibly painful and boring.

If you want to skip Jury Duty, just have an opinion on everything. Good or bad. The lawyers will rule you out if you're a chatty Cathy.

I've gotten summoned 3 times in the last 5 years. Got in and out of there in 3 hours each time.

I was selected a long long time ago around 2003-04 maybe.

Wasn't too bad to be honest. Was picked on day one and had a case about a bit of a dust up with a landlord at his pub. Scrawny cant of a guy accusing him of assault. One line of questioning was comical and took a lot not to laugh.

'is it right you have the nickname knuckles'?
'yeah'
'why'
'because people say I walk like a gorilla'
'not because you are handy with your fists?'

He was found guilty but it was pretty weak to me and I was one of a handful that had doubts. One old lady didn't quite get the process and her first line when we got together was 'he is guilty, you only have to look at him'

I was let go after that case and it only took three days I think. You can be held two weeks I think and longer if your case goes longer.

I don't mind going and, as I won't be losing out financially as I'll still get paid by work, I don't mind going. I just found it strange how loads of people I know suddenly got summoned. I suppose there's a backlog with cases with Covid.

I can't imagine it'll be a very juicy case as nothing too major usually happens around here but you never know.

I did it in caernarfon about twelve years ago.
It was about a small theft and annoyance.
I didn't find it boring, the opposite in fact.
What looked cut and dried turned out not to be.
Work is obliged to give you time off.

If you get the chance then definitely go. It is a new experience and interesting to watch the process though as someone else said, a financial one would get old fast.

I don't remember them doing that in the UK, we were just selected as the 12 from a group of 25 or so and went in, the others were dismissed until later in the week.

I've done it twice and be called a further time but could not attend as I was going away.

Sat on the jury twice. One a r@pe case and the other a drugs bust.

First time got sequestered in the hotel and everything overnight. They don't do that here anymore

The last one I went to, I just told them that the lawyer was really quiet and I couldn't hear him and fear that I might not hear crucial information.

Another time, the lawyer asked us "my client will not be speaking at all in the trial. Will any of you have any issues with that?"

I said, "he's on trial for (whatever it was, think it's DUI). shouldn't a man defend himself?" Got thrown out 15 minutes later.

Should add it was interesting but the r#pe case involved some awful stuff to have to hear and the poor lassie crying on the stand was terrible

I did it last year. Basically it was a big group of about 24. The first group got called through for a murder case, our groups was firearms offences. Only did 4 days out of the 2 weeks as they didn’t have another case we could do. I found it interesting, but there’s A LOT of sitting around and waiting.

I'm happy sitting around and waiting. I'll have everyone here to entertain me whilst I'm in the waiting room!
