I am watching Narcos: Mexico now. Season 1 was decent. The villain, Diego Luna, was also in a SW movie.

Loved Narcos. Season 3 gets criticism but I thought it was really good as a standalone and I think people just had a Escobar hangover.
You should move onto Narcos Mexico. Just as good.
Give Narcos Mexico a go aswell, that is really good aswell plus Escobar makes a guest appearance in one of the episodes. Also the third season of Narcos Mexico is out in November!
If you have Netflix give El Chapo a go aswell. Similar to Narcos although probably not as good but I thoroughly enjoyed it

Yeah the Escobar hangover really did hit home in S3.
One thing that wasn't really there for me in S3 was as much of a threat level from the baddies. The first ten minutes of EP1 reveal that...
**SPOILERS DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN NARCOS SEASON 3**
The cartel are surrendering in 6 months so it felt a bit empty. Also some of the technology the cartel have is a bit OTT for, what, 1995?
Still a good season though. I thought Mexico S1 was better than S3..

I guess you are right but I thought the undercurrent story about the security guard and his family trying to get out of Columbia was quite gripping but yeah Narcos Mexico is better but it didn't go into detail the punishment the DEA agent suffered.
Season 3 is the best one imo.
I think its because I pretty much knew the main parts of the Escobar story (although not in the detail they went into) but I knew nothing about the Cali cartel.
Mexico has disappointed a little so far I feel. Though hopefully they start to focus a bit more on El Chapo's rise in the coming seasons.

If you like Narcos you should watch Snowfall too - on iplayer. Set around the same time but focuses on the crack crisis in America. Unlike narcos its not strictly a true story (as the characters are fictional) but its kind of based on true events.
One of the most underrated TV shows around.

Spot on very underrated show mainly because it ended up on iplayer. Goes well into how the CIA bought the drugs into the US.
Another show in a similar vein is Startup which also is underrated.
Watched all of Startup, didn't love it. Good enough to keep me watching but nothing more than that
