21 dead in another school shooting

In fairness, when something is a raw as what happened Tuesday, to bring up George Floyd’s anniversary is somewhat insensitive.

It’s not as though it hasn’t had worldwide coverage so to include it a grieving tweet deserves scrutiny.

Poor form Barack.

Perhaps his error of judgement was to mention the grieving again, when he had already tweeted about it when it occurred and also reposted other people's thoughts on the issue.

Maybe if he'd just used the separate date to mark 2 years of Floyd's death then people wouldn't have reacted like this.

Or perhaps most likely, his detractors would have gotten on his back regardless of what he'd said.

Possibly the most crass Tweet ever: https://twitter.com/BarackObama/status/1529555038246428672

Although not a surprise from Droney McKillchildren. One of the worst Presidents in US history.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

What’s wrong with it? The murder of George Floyd happened two years ago. Barack was tweeting about that horrific event. Sorry if you’re still triggered by how the world (rightly) reacted to it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Seriously? You seriously don't see the issue with using the murder of a classroom full of children and teachers to bring up a completely unrelated and highly politically charged incident?

Although looking at your use of the word "triggered" and the bizarre strawmanning I don't think nuance is really your thing. Or basic comprehension.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If you’ve read the My Brother's Keeper Alliance‘s Vision for Policing and understand the wider context around it, it isn’t unrelated at all. It’s directly related.

The Tweets have to be read in sequence.

He isn’t centring on George Floyd. He’s pointing out that the murder of Floyd led to the creation of the MBK Alliance’s Vision for Policing, which itself is directly related to the present event.

I dont see Obama's tweet as crass at all. It's a cause he believes in, which is fair enough (irrespective of the merits or otgerwisd of the BLM movement).

I do find it confusing though to see some people take an opportunity to castigate all police offers as bad people (as some seem to bave fone on this thread) whilst also arguing that civilians shouldnt be allowed guns.

I would have thought that an important part of the anti gun argument is that we can rely on the brave men and wonder who protect us every working day of their lives. The proliferation of guns in the hands of those who would willingly kill innocrent people they happen to encou ter, is also a reminder of how difficult a task the police face, and of the invaluable service they provide.

It’s not your country so no need to be concerned.

Now you all may commence with your hate of the US.

…and I’m still going to own my firearms.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

And in a nutshell the reason the US is so facked. You utter clown.

Driving across the US the last few days and listening to a lot of radio, much of which is republican propaganda. One guy kept preaching that we need more good guys with guns ffs. You couldn't make it up.

I really don't see why any civilised country needs fire arms for self defence because all that happens is everyone gets one cos everyone else has one... Like the adage of doping in cycling, you can't be clean cos no one else is

Why do Americans need assault rifles for self defence?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

It has never been about self defence so don't even give that catchy line a minutes thought.

Assault weapons should be banned immediately, i mean seriously, isn't that just a common sense move? Nobody needs an assault rifle, full stop.

The loony conspiracy theories have started from the OAN/Fox news idiots. They’re asking how he afforded these guns and implying that his therapist was a hypnotist specialist who ‘programmed’ him to do this to bring in gun control and make it easier for the tyrannical government to swoop in and bring in a Chinese style social credit system.

Sigh.

Jesus I genuinely didn't think calling Obama's crass tweet crass would be controversial.

Although I suppose people excuse his relentless drone striking of the Arab world, so a poor tweet isn't exactly going to register with them. After all, he wears a nice suit!

Police swiftly on to blaming the school however they can, complaining that no security guard challenged the shooter and that the door he entered via “may not even have been locked”.

I don’t know about everyone else, but I attended primary and high schools situated on council estates. The high school had over 1,200 kids and there wasn’t a security guard employed at either institution. The doors were *never* locked, and anybody could have walked on to the site unchallenged. Nobody was - or has ever been - shot on the premises of either school.

The victims, including the school staff, are not to blame here.

how is his tweet crass ? he is talking about a different event, the anniversary of which is something he cant control and he pays respect to the victims of this other incident out in passing. There's nothing crass about it at all.
