I don’t think it’d be a re-evaluation. He’d actually have to become a decent footballer first.
He’s a good player, will do very well under Pep with proper instructions. Just as he did for Bielsa. Notably less inspiring for Southgate, which is a shock.
He’ll be a sub with specific uses. Rodri’s levels above him, and it seems unlikely he’d play with him given how limited he is.
Bit of a pointless signing for pep.
He’s being used as a sub primarily though right? Not to say Pep doesn’t rate him but I don’t see him being used much, especially not in big games.
If he's lucky he could be the new Fabian Delph
Not very often I'm not jealous of one of their signings but this is definitely one of them. He's such a mediocre player. He won't stay there longer than a few seasons. Probably be back at Leeds on loan in season 3.
A player to bring on late in the game to see it out?
So glad that's the end of any kind of speculation that he's coming to United. I can only assume that it's something to do with Sterling leaving and needing more homegrown players?
Signing is up there with Ake & Delph

Very.
Odd signing to be honest. He's hardly going to get a game.

Rotation as well. Apparently Pep’s become obsessed with City conceding counters and so having Phillips be able to come in for certain games where he can help stop them would make him a useful squad player.
Don’t think he’s a great player and won’t strengthen them that much but they’re still improving their squad as a whole and are even further away from us now.
Newcastle are signing three or four already, we’re having a complete shambles of a window in comparison to other PL sides, even though it is still early.
Not a good sign
If City get Cucurella as well they’ll have, on paper at least, resolved most of the issues with their squad this summer. It’ll be the most complete squad in football.
Be interesting to see what difference (if any) the change in assistant manager has on City.
£45m for Phillips?? Ffs what a shambles
Freakish didn’t go too well, so far. City paying big money for somebody doesn’t equate to success.
Not sure how he gets into CM ahead of Rodri, Gundagon, KDB, Silva. Maybe he will play a CB role at times.
The OP is right, we will all be revising our opinions of him once Pep gets to work.
Probably take a year to bed in and then be outstanding, like most of Pep’s City signings
I’m sure Grealish will be much improved next season because of this
Pep will get him back to bielsa level.
Playing for Southgate can make anyone look sh!t.
How do City circumnavigate FFP? The amount they spend must easily break the rules.

Not sure whether Grealish will ever excel in Peps tactical system. While it's quite endearing to witness sometimes, Grealish is spectacularly stupid and may well be incapable of playing football on much beyond his general footballing instincts (which are absolutely fine but Pep demands a lot more).
If anyone can crack that nut then it's probably Pep but he's really got his work cut out with him!
Would have loved to sign kalvin. I see him as a smart version of Mctominay.
Bielsa level Phillips wasn’t a particularly good player. Had about a handful of good games against shiiiit teams in the prem. His reputation has been enhanced more by playing for England if anything.
