Chelsea are one of the biggest earning clubs in Europe, have you been living under a rock for the last ten years?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not even in the top 6.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We are if you discount clubs like City who are sponsored by their owners
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Strange comment considering Chelsea have literally been sponsored by its owners for the last 2 decades ๐Ÿคจ
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Like saying "I am rich.....if you discount anyone who is richer than me"

I always said when spurs fans were talking about Chelsea as If they were nothing, wait til the new owner arrives.

Roman wanted assurances on spending/investment in the squad so spending, and spending big after the big debt got cleared, was inevitable. Romans loan was interest free I'm sure and hardly the big deal it was made out to be....when the club was run on oil and steel money

Stirling, ake and koulibaly are top class signings with real pedigree. Hard to see spurs passing them if they get them deals through. I'd also expect a striker to arrive.

When you compare Chelsea defence and mf it seems way better than spurs tbh. Still time for both sides to spend and maybe sway things but I'd be shocked if chelseas signings didn't overshadow spurs. They should do when they are so much further forward in their squad development

Mcfoot with his continuing Spurs obsession. What have Spurs squad/signings etc got to do with the OP?

I am not sure how UEFA deal with "the covid years" for FFP purposes because all clubs made big financial losses. Certainly in the PL clubs had to show what losses were attributable to covid, and Everton were controversially showing massive losses (£170m i think) whcih are effectively removed from the FFP calculation to demonstrate they were PL FFP complaint.

Seems like most of the bigger clubs were about £150m in debt from 2 years of covid impact.

As for spending, when assessing for FFP you do not take the headline transfer fee - say £55m for Sterling - it is amortised, so that breaks it down over the length of contract. Even if paid for in one hit. So Sterling on a 5 year deal impacts on the finances as £11m a year. - this is the player amortisation you will see in financial reports and all transfers are dealt with like this, and the figure aggregates all the transfer fees paid in this way.

SO even if Chelsea spend £250m this summer, it really only appears as something like £50m-amortised player trading, assuming all signings on 50 year deals.

However that gets added to their historic figures , which i think for last year was £160m. Invariably Chelsea achieve decent profit on player sales, so in 2020 that was recorded as £142m, offsetting against their spending, hence they edged into overall profit (£36m).

Last season (20/21) though player trading profit was about £30m, so in net trading terms, £112m going out. This contributed significantly to their published loss of £145m.

Last summer they sold a few players - Zouma, Tomori, Abraham, so their player profits will be quite healthy for teh coming set of accounts. This summer they might well need to sell a few (Gallagher? Broja? Amapadu?) to get their profit on player trading figure up, to offset against increased spenidng.

So while their new owners may well be happy to pump money in, their challenge will be remaining FFP complaint in the face of high costs (wages) high player transfer amortisation, and especially where they are making less profit on sales which they have relied on quite heavily over the years to remain complaint.

Of course the other way to remain compliant in the face of high costs is to increase revenue, so they will probably be looking to strengthen this side and already have added a couple small additional sponsor deals and are probably looking to do more of that.

The article is written by a United fan and talking about Chelsea

As far as I could see there wasn’t even any input from a Tottenham fan in the thread before this guys observations on all things tottenham

He does have a strange obsession with us

This is a poster who whines about the supposed stupid rivalry between Liverpool and Tottenham fans on here (it is stupid , we aren’t rivals at all) yet fuels it whenever the opportunity arises

Chill out pi55 pants ๐Ÿ˜‚ for a person that likes needling u sure don't like it when it comes back to haunt u.

I always said spurs fans were getting carried away with mediocre signings and Chelsea would go big in the market. Spurs fans writing Chelsea off made me chuckle. They are going for a dif calibre of player and I expect them to finish above spurs easily.

Chelsea cleared their debt and got a new owner who wants to spend. Hardly rocket science.

Spurs fans talking of trophies and talking about Chelsea as if the good old days were over, and they were done. Made me chuckle. When I look at spurs signings and Chelsea spending, I don't care where the money comes from, I just know Chelsea will be spending big.

Ignorance and IQ of most spurs fans on here is comical ๐Ÿ˜‚ such sensitive souls too. Happy to mock others but can't take it. Chelsea ain't done spending and ffp won't do anything. Can't wait to see more spurs fans crying about it ๐Ÿ˜‚
