They’ve signed a CB unproven in the Pl, so have we (one our manager wanted), a PL proven attacker in Sterling, we’ve signed a PL proven attacking midfielder in Eriksen, and a young left back from Brighton, we’ve signed Malacia.

Also sounds like we’re still working on other deals or waiting for the right players the manager wants.

Would you be happier if we’d thrown another £25m on top of all our signings to make them more expensive, and that we’d had to pay £30m or so for Eriksen instead of him being free?

Zinchenko for 30m is more inflating the market. An average squad player from city. Cucurella was one of the leagues best players imo Cities opening offer of 30m was an insult really considering theyd just sold a squad player for that.

OP

Do you want the Glazers to just carry on spending massive amounts of money on who ever they think the manager wants.

Or do you want the Glazers to spend money on the players the manager actually wants?

I can’t tell from your post really.

Don’t worry what Chelsea do.

Bizarre one to pick Chelsea of all teams to compare us to. A team who have been bent over by Barca repeatedly for the signings they really wanted.

good deal for eriksen ...class player. Koulibali is a world class defender wanted everywhere ive no worries about him. Cucurella what ive seen is a very good player and versatile.we have lacked a finisher/poacher now we have sterling wasnt really excited by it but hes better at finishing than what we have. the new lad from villa(spell check) looks great for the 5 subs rule hes quick and tricky.
Everybody seems to be writing off Chelsea which i think its great we love being underdogs.

It’s not necessarily about the money spent. They’ve got their deals done quickly, no protracted sagas. And they’re on the cusp of more. Nothing seems close for us.

….

The only one we have had a saga with is FDJ and that is down to the selling team not us.

Jesus christ what a sharticle

United have spent an obscene amount and backed every manager. We spent £80m on maguire ffs.

If anything we desperately want De Jong for Ten Hag otherwise we'd have gone for other targets. That is doing everything possible to back a manager. Otherwise we'd have signed Neves by now.

Meanwhile Chelsea are spending 62m on Cucurella and a past his prime Koulibali who wasn't that good anyways. Get a grip op.

posted on 5/8/22

Think Koulibaly is the only signing they've made which was one where they definitely need him. The others not particularly.

Fair play if it's what they need and what the manager wants but from the outside they've got Sterling when they already have 4 or 5 other options there.

Cucurella will be yet another left sided defender (they have 5 other LWB's in their squad). Unless they plan on playing him as a left sided CB, in which case he's 5ft 8ins tall. Shorter than the dwarfish Martinez.

I'm happy with us taking time under ETH to make the right signings he thinks he needs for his system.

Everyone seems to be forgetting we cant offer champ league football and probably wont be offering it next year either.

Much harder to sign the right players when we likely wont be in that comp for next few years.

If Chelsea got the click bait links in the media that anything with United in the title does

Kounde would’ve been held up as a long running saga which ended in a farce.

The media know running United headlines will get clicks from the huge United fan base and all the haters who love to leave insulting comments below the articles.

Just take a look at any rag. Look at any United headline, it will have hundreds of comments meaning it’s been mass visited. Compare that to other teams.

I saw a headline of Mane saying “of course we (Bayern) would beat Liverpool in the CL)….it has 7 comments

News that teamviewer won’t renew their United shirt sponsorship in 4 YEARS TIME has 261 comments.

As for backing ETH. They signed Malacia, Eriksen and Lisandro who we wanted. They supposedly agreed a few for FDJ. That would’ve been 4 players that he wanted.

What are you actually expecting? 9 incoming?

I disagree. Antony has been going on all summer, now Ziyech looks more likely.

Well we 100% need a midfielder, striker, right back and keeper so at least 7.

And paying £3m more for a quality player like Cucurella than United paid for dross like Fred is hardly inflating the market.

£80m on Maguire is what you call inflating the market.

“We”

ETH is in charge. He has identified a midfielder (Eriksen) a LB (Malacia) and a CB (Martinez) that the club have got him.

He also wants a DM (FDJ) that the club have secured a transfer fee agreement with but for whatever reason we can’t close it.

A keeper? That’s your view.

A right back? Maybe but if ETH wanted one we’d be chasing one that’s for sure.

A centre forward? He wants ‘attackers’ you’d also be crying if we paid what Ajax wanted for Antony. So it’s lose lose.

Ronaldo going/ not going has negatively influenced much of your transfer business besides the huge cost of not playing in ECL.
I wonder if the board saying "Ronaldo not for sale", is secret code for " please some one take him off our hands"?

Chelsea should be investigated, or rather the Prem should be, for allowing them to just wipe out a massive debt to the previous owner, by not having to pay it off.

Something very corrupt their takeover was allowed to happen, without any penalties incurred.

Have a look back through the records and tell us the last time United signed seven players for the first team squad in a single transfer window.

I’ll give you a hint: You’re going to need a while.

Tbf you could ask the question as to when was the last time so many first team squad players left the squad in one summer. We are left with an extremely small squad now. Particularly in attacking areas. Which is why we can forget a top four tilt before the season even starts, depressing as that is.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agreed Sandy. How can it be right that the previous owner builds up a debt of £1.5b ( by far in excess of their generated income limits dictated by FFP rules ) to simply "buy" success, at the obvious expense of virtually every other club. and then just be aloud to "write it off and have a do over"

And now, a couple of months on, they go again with yet more massive spending, with massive wages, all far and above the FFP income/expenditure limits, and again, fully contribute to yet more inflationary prices and wages, that only a very few rich clubs can possibly compete with. And all headed up by some yank who no doubt calls OUR game "Soccer"

It's a facking disgrace that they and one or two others can systematically kill our game. The game that is meant for everyone, not just the mega rich, with the so called authorities of the game sitting on their hands and letting it happen. Their approach to it all being "Oh well, we can't actually do anything because they are rich and important to lining our pocket, sorry, we mean important to the game.
