Probably not an envelope but a favour in kind for his agent who will lie (doesn't almost everyone in football) to get his client a new gig - sooner than anticipated as it happens! If it wasn't his agent it would be another agent who could scratch his back in persuading a young player to go to his academy over another.

Stuff like this is rife in the game and almost nobody trusts anyone, rightly so.

Sounds like any of us on here could do his job!
