Chronic why is MON such a bad choice? Plenty of PL experience. He is no worse a manager than Redknapp.
-----
spurtle.. MON is responsible for putting out some of the most boring defensive negative teams I have ever seen at WHL .... being some of his aston villa teams.
furthermore he just took the job at Sunderland (a club he loves) and i cant see him leaving so soon so its just not an option anyway.
MON is worse than Redknapp when it comes to favourites too.
What is wrong with Hodgson? I wonder how L'pool would have done had they given him that backing instead of Kenneth. He wasn't inspiring in his first few games, but then so was SAF.
Plenty of PL experience but we all know what he did for Aston Villa in Europe.
Oh and Heskey

Sorry but you could just as easily say the same about Harry and exploits in Europe this season, along with his love for Crouch. As I say I think he's as good as Harry, and like Harry he's a good man manager.
Anyone would think I had mentioned Mick McCarthy or something
Yeah Chronic's right about MON. Sunderland and he are a perfect fit. Can't see him leaving so soon after joining them. The reason he left Villa was due to not receiving any financial backing, despite only just missing out on a top 4 finish.
Can you imagine how much money Sunderland's owners will give him to spend this summer if he can guide the club to a top 6 finish?

So yeah. You'll lose. Don't be too upset about it.
Chelsea are just better than you. We will defeat you, we will defeat everybody! We are Chelsea, the greatest team in the world!
You guys are alright, just not as good as us. Not something to be ashamed about I guess.
I love football with a passion
Chronic you mentioned those Villa games before. Don't tell me your basing it on those games?
They were rubbish then yes, but overall he did a great job for Villa. You can't argue with his 3 top 6 finishes, from where they were before he took over. They should have won the CC as well if it weren't for the referee.

i have no idea about the finances of sunderland but judging by how the usually back managers, coupled with the gates they get i would estimate that he will get 15-20 mill to spend plus any money he raises on top of that from player sales.

the top 6 finishes though, were not a particularly big achievement, when you consider that at that time, villa probably had about the 5th or 6th best squad in the league... they certainly had a better one than we had.....
so i think those finishes were about right, not an overachievement.

You're a very determined man Squid and I like that.
Chronic - I would have to disagree that they had a better squad, and don't forget they had to sell one of their key players during MON's tenure. I seem to remember on the old 606 a lot of Spurs vs Villa squad comparison threads with Spurs fans boasting they had the better team. And we did, mostly.

Spurs will win the title with this squad:
Cech
Ivanovic Luiz Terry Cole
Ramires Romeu Modric
Sturridge Torres Mata
Sputle
Randy learner was running Villa at a massive loss during the time of M.O.N he knew he couldnt sustain that , sortly afterward M.O.N left .....make of that what you will
Squid - MON spent a lot of money at Villa true, not always wisely it has to be said, but some decent signings in there. To be fair they were in 16th(?) position when he took over. He felt it necessary to spend, just as Harry did when we were in crisis.
He did have to face Barry leaving, who was a key player for them, and Milner too. If the best players are going to be sold each year it's not really helping the manager much.
What about Asier Del Horno?
MON definitely should be considered. Klinsmann is too risky as he doesn't have enough experience.
Depends on how you measure experience, does it not?
Klinsmann took Germany to the Semi's of the 2006 WC, only losing out to Italy in extra time. He also took Bayern to the Quarter Finals of the CL, has played in the PL & currently managing the USA who are ranked 33 in the World and climbing steadily.
That looks quite good experience compared to many other managers who might be available.
