Big Don wins by miles, and then I would have to go with a dozen batsmen from the all conquering West Indian and Australian cricket teams to find the next 10 places.

The best its got to be Sachin Tendulker, nobody comes anywhere near, all countries, all conditions, against all bowlers, think of the pressure he's under every time he goes out to bat. Bradman played in an era where the fast bowlers did'nt field like they do these day's. i know his figures look fantastic, but no for me its the little master.

Those who sacrificed personal goals for the sake of national goals top my list:

1) Mark Taylor
2) Imran Khan
3) Allan Border
4) Mike Bearly

if the grt gavascar says tendulkar is the best he has seen, and that also being the best batsman of his era and probably the only one that could dominate the grt west indies bowlers without a helmet, then i dont know what class you all have to compare tendulkar with anyone

Windies were without their major bowlers (either injured or in Packer) in most of the games in which Gavaskar attained batting milestones against them.

i think i salute pr....... he is the greatest batsman of any era. averaging something only he knows. he is the most experianced player ever to be born in the cricketing history.
my ranking is as following
1. pr,
2. maksi(who wears a helmet when playing againstt plastic balls. can we all applaud for these 2 legends.)

3. no one deserves this place.

Viru

So I am bottom down if I am not the biggest fan of Tendulkar. In my opinion, he has nearly perfect batting technique, > Lara, Ponting and every tom in his era but his priorities in terms of sacrificing personal acheivement for national glory is not awe inspiring.

No Viv Richards on this list?

posted on 16/3/12

pr how can you judge that he puts his personal achievements ahead of india. you are just making up things which have no meaning. yes he scored 100 in 137 balls, but that could be because it would have got harder to bat. if it was that easy to bat, as we make it out to be, then why has players like sangakara only scored 13 100s in 300+ odis. there are so many factors that could have slown down his innings, cramps, age, heat, gd bowling, and also it could have been a tactic of keep wickets in hand and go for the kill at the last 6 overs. lets stop judging on baseless things like this.

On serious PR's best 5 batters are:
1) Bradman
2) Viv Richards
3) Greame Pollock
4) Gary Sobers
5) Sachin Tendulkar
5)

Kash....

There are many batsmen that could be on that list for 2nd place if they`d have played 188 tests

People who think Sachin is the best of all time should look at the number of tests played before commenting

I know they wont.... We have DRS now

posted on 16/3/12

ofcourse they will. did you guys know, ponting till 2007/2008 averaged 59, what happened to him after that is histrory. his average dropped to 52. same as dravid till 2007 he averaged 59, if he retired then he would have been even called better than tendulkar. but he carried in in pursuit to play as many tests as possible. his average is history now. i dont know y you guys think if anyone else played 188 tests they would have the same figures. do players have the ability to stay fit for 23 years. do players have that talent to be so gd, to be in the team at the age of 16, and prior to that having played 500+ first class matches?
