I never throw the towel in but I can't help but think we need to start planning for next seasons league campaign.
If that means, trying out some new formations and/or tactics then fine.
The youth players are all desperate to prove themselves and in my opinion, some of the best players over the last 10-15 years have made the leap to the first team at a very young age such as Owen, Gerrard, Rooney etc.
Who knows, dropping the first teamers might actually give them a much needed kick up the backside.
The manager needs to identify the problem areas - midfield and attack.
But for a few errors, the defence has been largely solid.
Kelly/Johnson Skrtel Agger Enrique
Lucas Gerrard
Suarez
This spine is fine and if we can add some class to the midfield and a serious goal threat then we can really move forward.
Lucas will be like a new signing next season and with the right additions, the club will be well equipped to get back into the top 4.
The key is the summer signings? Can we trust the manager or DC to make the right decisions? Will the owners put the Trust in them to bring in the necessary players?
This summer will make or break Kennys reign.
Lets plan now and start identifying targets for the summer as well as getting the current crop to get their act together.
Planning for Next Season

Kenny will not blood the youngsters,he'll continue to curry favour with the same old under performers to justify the're purchase and selection, and the longer he continues to do that, the shorter his time as manager becomes.

I said this five games ago and was slatted for it. Turns out I was right.

You weren't right five games ago though cos we were still in the race for fourth.

Yeah it turned out that way didn't it? When I said five, it was a figure of speech, what I meant was three....or seven...or something.

We look so poor, we need to right off the next 3-5 seasons as it will take at least this long to write the wrongs of this and last season
Northampton, QPR, Blackpool and many many more teams have put us to the sword

Pull it together.
Things aren't that bad. I mean we haven't declined, we're in the same position as last season and have a cup in the cabinet and still a chance for another. Things haven't progressed quickly but why should they? We were the seventh best team and other teams were better than us and some even strengthened further. We need to get our system right and players to play in that system and for me, testing new things out now, is the right time, so as we can be ready for next season.

"We are seventh best".........
We are a laughing stock my friend, we are slip sliding down a slippery slope.
Or shall we pretend everything is rosie and burie our head in the sand?
Cardiff could have easily have beat us - we had to rely on them being even worse than on at penalties

I think saying we are seventh best is hardly saying everything is rosy. You're living in two extremes, one where everything is rosy and one where everything is a disaster, however, we aren't in any of those categories.
We're seventh. Europa is qualified for and now we have to think about next season.

Totally agree. As far as things go, apart from the FA cup, our season is pretty much a dead rubber now.
We are already in Europe, so now would be a good time to maybe start blooding some of our best young players one at a time; lets see what they can do.
Identify players needed to fill our weak positions (we all know what they are so no need to go into them here), and set the ground work for recruiting them.
Also, stop changing tactics every week depending on the team we are playing. Work on an attacking, pass and move system that served us well at the start of the season. We outplayed most teams and created loads of chances, we just didn't put the ball in the net. Stop worrying about other teams, and let them worry about tactics to play us.
If we keep on changing the system we play then how the hell are the players supposed to get used to that system.

This is also part of the problem, tippy tappy football in and around the box, when a thunderbolt will do or a first time hit, always looking for an extra touch or trying to walk it into the net,a lot of the decisive decision making is appalling.
