The French League (LFP) have postponed Olympique Marseille's Ligue 1 game against Montpellier to help the club prepare for their Champions League quarter-final return leg against Bayern Munich. Marseille had been due to play Montpellier on 31 March, three days after hosting Bayern Munich on 28 March.
I got this off BBC's Sportsday Live, what do you all think about this? Surely this blatant favouritism can't go down well with other clubs!!!
Can they do this?

The extra games is why Premier League clubs can afford to pay their players so much, which in turn attracts some of the best international talent, which leads to having the most popular league in the world with successful teams in Europe (this season notwithstanding), which also attracts even more talent to the league.
Lets face both domestic and international players don't choose to play in England because of the weather or culture x

To be fair, I like premier league football over the christmas holidays

Yeah but come February/March, our players are completely burned and don't stand a chance in the CL!

I'd hate a winter break, that would be sickening.
Plus, I just don't se the fuss, they still have to play the games, they'd end up playing 3 or 4 games in a week later on in the season anyway, or have less of a summer.

Unless we reduce the number of clubs in the Premier division to 18? Wouldn't it be nice to have well rested players who could actually perform in an international tournament?

Both time you got to the final (08/09 and 10/11) we faced either an english team or an "average" team in the quarter/semi final
In 09/10, when you faced a Bayern (bigger team), you were beaten. It could have been different if you had the winter break.

For christ sakes, these players are paid sums most of us can only dream of. If they don't like it they are welcome to quit.
Pathetic.

So far Italian clubs in the CL will play their League games on a Friday to help prepare themselves for there CL games. Napoli in the 1st leg they played on the friday before the game and Chelsea on the saturday giving them 24 hours more recovery time, in the 2nd leg Napoli played on the friday and Chelsea played on the sunday giving them just over 36 hours more recovery time. Chelsea play Benfica next tuesday, Benfica play friday night and Chelsea the following afternoon, the 2nd leg the Portuguese FA have allowed Benfica's game to be played on the friday again and i think we play Aston Villa away in the late kick off on the saturday (although i might be wrong about that last bit). In the semi finals if Chelsea gets through against Benfica we will more than likely face Barcelona on the tuesday after we play more than likely Spurs in an FA Cup semi final on the sunday and Barcelona almost certainly play on either friday or saturday.

Yeah we only had to beat Marsielle, a good team, Schalke, who beat Inter who themselves had beaten Bayern... ohh and only Chelsea the second most successful English team in recent years.
Why can't it be that easy every year...
