Is the season over?

Even the most optimistic fan will now accept that the play-offs are beyond us and we are 1 win away from officially not being relegated. Does anyone else have the feeling that the season is now over?

Hopefully Williams and O'Keefe will play every game and even get Kwesi or Pedroza playing some games. It will be disappointing if we finish on a bit of an anti-climax but I'm sure that won't happen

I would agree with the above to an extent.

At the start of the season I would have done anything for mid table obsecurity and that's where we are and so I am extremely happy. We beat the sc*m, man u and the seaweed away and reached a cup semi final which was the real icing on the cake! I for one am a happy season ticket holder.

I think whilst we have "nothing" to play for I'd like to see some of the younger players get blooded and us play with a higher tempo. If we lose 3-0 who cares it got to be better than an edgy 1-0 win or a bore draw. Dougie, Lenny and Poppa have done an incredible job turning our leaky Burley defence into a tight and formidable unit we just need to sort the other end out.

With Jedi and Gardener out for the season hopefully players like O'Keefe will get a good run in the team.

Yeah, sad news for Gardner (who I would say is Player Of The Year) & Jedinak (who’s got to be Most Improved Player).

I dunno if I can accept Our PlayOff ambitions are finished with a mere space of 8-pts?!

I mean, if we were 8-pts from the drop, would you say we are safe?

If the Club have concluded with the Season, than lets push on with next Season against Forest with playing the likes of Kyle De Silva.

At the end of the day does it matter? We still have a club to support and are more than likely going to finish the season in the top half of the championship. Who wouldn't have taken that at the beginning of the season?

To get into the play offs we need to win all of our remaining games and I just think that's a step too far. Wherever we finish I'm sure we'll all just be happy not to get relegated! So should Freedman start mixing the team up and maybe try a few youngsters and take some risks?

Just to mix it up a bit more, assuming we finish mid table this season where do you expect us to finish next season?

I expect around a one and half points average from the remaining games and certainly not a run where we win all of them.
As regards next season, I expect to finish mid/lower the same as this one.
I feel that apart from Southampton, this is not too strong a league this season. West Ham and Reading are strong but not stand out and there is not much that separates that duo from the play-off contenders.
We were probably two players off of being a fairly decent side this season and if we had strengthened in January, we may have been in the mix. We may have even beaten Cardiff.
For us to do much better next season, that supposes on us keeping Clynne and Zaha, teams coming into the league being worse than us, 4/5/6 astute new signings and an improvement in managerial tactics.
I just can't see all that tbh.
To expect that we can just say along the lines of 'well we will have a good go at promotion next year when we will be better ready' is a little presumptious and suggests we can turn it on at a time that suits us.
This season was a glorious chance gone to waste.
I haven't seen or heard enough fire in their bellies to suggest that a promotion push will be as straight-forward as a people are being led to believe.

I listened in on PP for the Donny game and it sounded as if we were lucky to escape with a draw. So today, I expect us to be lucky to escape with a draw.
If you are a crepe team and need a bit of a confidence booster then you must look down the fixture list to see when you play Palace.
I think there are too many things not right with us at the moment.

On the plus side FFS Murray got the score right!

Yes FFs got the score right but I would have preffered the 'edgy 1-0' he alluded to.

Time to start a 'Where do you think Dougie will be next season?' thread methinks.

In fact I have just looked at our remaining six games and will revise my one and a half points predicted average to a total of 3/18.
The team are a worse shower than I gave them credit for.

Where will Freedman be? Probably winning manger of the month right now after sealing the Championship!

The truth of the matter is that we have nothing to play for and Forest are trying to avoid a relegation scrap. They went and beat Leeds 7-3 maybe we should have been glad it was only 3-0!

Freedman is a young manager and is still learning. I felt that his team selection was the mistake and hopefully he realises that. We all make mistakes at work it's just how we recover from them. I would much rather see us play a younger side and lose with academy players trying to prove something rather than KG and Garvan floating about doing nothing.

But like I said we're not going anywhere and I think some of the players know that and don't seem bothered. Looking at our remaining fixtures I'm afraid we can expect more results like Forest. If I wasn't a season ticket holder I would consider stop going this season and can understand with these tough times if attendences continue to drop.

Hopefully we will be treated to some decent displays of football at the next home game (just a shame it'll be from Southampton! )

tbh with Moxey at cb and Jedi absent the "thou shalt not score" mentality is gone. There are too many "oh I didn't realise he was playing todays" in the side. Without putting down Forest who played ok but 3-0 flattered them rather than reflected how badly we played (and we did). As for next season I wish Doog would put a youngster in at cb or defensive midfield rather than a squad play (which KG is now), Jules had one of his rare off days and maybe all those seasons of being the one responsible fo keeping us up are starting to take their toll. Keep him as our number one but give Price or Fitzsimmons a try out. Let Innis or Taylor have a go at cb and Wynter a go at cb before we have another season of squad players getting too many games and the hungry youngsters not given a chance. In Doog I (still) trust.
