Old Firm in England and League Cup

Hey guys, Fred in peace

I was talking to a few Celtic fans this morning regarding a possible switch into the big leagues south of the border (no disrespect intended) and many of them said that it would be a good move for them.

I was hoping I'd be able to get the views of both Celtic and Rangers fans as well as fans of Premier League teams. It's an interesting point but for me, if we can have Swansea and Cardiff in our league then I don't see why we can't have the Old Firm who are probably (again no disrespect intended) bigger and better clubs and they'd be able to bring a lot to what is an already great league.

What to people on here think?

I had a thought also about the League Cup and how it's prestige could be increased and that's by including teams but north and south of the border, including clubs from Wales, meaning the two semis could be held at the Millenium Stadium and Hampden Park and the final at Wembley. Just a thought.

Obviously there are questions of the authority and independence of the respective FAs and under who's jurisdiction it would fall under but this could provoke some interesting discuss.

So, guys and girls, thoughts please.

Personally, I'd rather we kicked Swansea and Cardiff out of the English leagues and let them form some sort of Celtic league.

Although Aberdeen versus A.F.C. St Austell might cause a few travel frustrations.

Look at the sheer numbers of games played in England an the numbers of fans misbehaving then compare it to the scottish league.

Hell I would wager there is more antisocial behaviour in an around the old firm than the Epl.

Weren't Celtic and their saints of fans done for singing pro terrorist sectarian songs recently.
--------------
No. We were fined for having a banner that said "F..k UEFA. A few stupid Celtic fans put up this banner, one of which got banned from Celtic for life, because we were reported for singing "Paddy McCourt's Fen.ian Army" in a European game.

Hell I would wager there is more antisocial behaviour in an around the old firm than the Epl.

The Glasgow derby games are actually very safe to attend. Fans don't ever get near each other and there are very few arrests, most of which are for singing songs and being too drunk. The real trouble is in and around pubs but whenever there is a lot of alcohol involved there will be anti social behaviour; England is no different up than here in that respect.

While we do have les games than you there is next to no trouble at SPL or any other Scottish games, I honestly don't know where you're getting that idea from. Did you not have fans rioting on the field in Birmingham a couple of years ago? Rangers did riot in Manchester but so have English fans abroad. We took 70k to Seville, had a party and even got a wee pat on the back from UEFA. Do some dodgy songs get sung inside Scottish grounds? Yeah but England is the same. So get off your high horse about fans' behaviour or maybe go ask some foreigners what fans are more behaved; the English or the Scots.
