COTTERNIL STRIKES AGAIN

Should we give him a chance?

5* - yay
4* - he deserves it
3* - we have no choice
2* - I would prefer it if he went
1* - nay

i have said from the start that if cotterill keeps us up he'll have done a very good job............ doesn't necessarily mean i'd be glad for him to be here next season though

the main concern for me is that we still aren't creating chances, unless someone does something special we aren't going to score and if you rely on that you are going to struggle for long periods of the season.

i can see us struggling again next season

You dont play hoof ball eh.

Well WTF was that on display when we demolished you at Pride Park.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's difficult to play decent football when you know if you don't get rid of the ball quickly you are going to get clattered. And before you say anything it was the same from both sides that day. Derby weren't any better than us but managed to score a goal.

Sutton, you keep harping on about Cotterill's CV yet on form, Portsmouth would be safe even with 10 points deducted if he was still there. Don't forget, he also took Notts County up and you can't dismiss this achievement because while Sven was there, promotion looked unlikely. I would personally prefer a manager with something to prove, and whose best years were ahead of him than one who'd been successful and was now going through the motions. To get this kind of manager you have to take a gamble and look a little but beyond the stats, and a little bit more at the character of the individual. SC still has a lot to prove, but he came through January in tact and the players/staff he brought in seem to be working out. I've bee impressed to see how much better Majewski, Reid and Mcleary have been playing, and it's been particuarly pleasing to hear Cotterill articulate how he felt this had come about. The improvements we're seeing have come through intelligent analysis and practical implementation. Credit should also go to SC for appointing O'Driscoll, a right hand man who is on his wavelength and able to get SC's idea across on the training ground. You can argue that we should never have got into this position, but we did, and long before SC arrived.

How do you work that out? Pompey improved when he left. They only got worse when they went into administration. It's a load of rubbish how can you know what would have happened. Don't talk rubbish.

As for County. How long was he there and where were they in the league when he took over.

When McClaren left if you'd have gone round the Coty Ground add asked the 20,000 odd people in there, do you want Steve Cotterill as you new manager? You'd have been lucky to get one yes. Why? Because we all thought he was a poor manager.

He's taken us through the longest goal drought in our history, the longest straight run of home defeats, and some of us have changed our minds. It's truly unbelievable.

I think you're being a bit harsh Sutton.

It took 11 men to beat Cotterills team.

And there was a good reason for this, we didn't have many fit players, and those who were fit were massively demotivated due to the plank McLaren!

As soon as Cotterill gets his hands on the team and shapes it to how he sees fit, we start playing well and winning.

So this is the first time in over 100 years of our history we've had a lot of injuries? Is it the first time we've had demotivated players?

It was the first time we've ever gone 14 games or whatever it was without scoring. It was the first time we ever, in over 100 years lost that many home games in a row.

He's rubbish Hoons, he just is. We all thought so before he came in and most of what's happens since suggest we were right. But you carry on taking one or two games in isolation and focusing on them if it makes you happy.

I'm not sure why anyone would want someone like Cotterill as manager when almost all the evidence suggests he'll be rubbish.

We've lost twice in 10. We are playing good football. I'm not taking anything in isolation, we've been (generally) in impressive form since the beginning of February, 2 months ago, and long may it continue!
