Third ODI, my team

This would be my team for today's ODI against SL:

Cook
Kieswetter
Bell
Pieetersen
Morgan
Patel
Woakes
Bresnan
Swann
Finn
Anderson

For my money Bell should either bat at three or not at all. This is is his normal position for Warwickshire where he has been very successful. Trott bats at four for Warwickshire and if both play that's where he should bat for England, moving Pietersen to five where he and Morgan can see us to a big total.
I do think Patel should play tgough and that means no room for both Bell and Trott.
Woakes should replace Broad and Finn on his own turf, replace Dernbach who has been a disappointment.
All his slower slower ball variations haven't worked against quality batsmen.

Why is it that Cook waits until the 49th over to show some aggression? Too little too late. As I type, Cook is run out. Even if by some miracle we got to 245, I can see Sri Lanka chasing that in 40 overs on this wicket.

Beautiful delivery to dismiss Dilshan from Bresnan, need a few more of those quickly if we are to get anything today.

SL on course to finish in 40, just 1 wicket down. Our bowlers look like they are just going through the motions at the moment.

It says something about our bowling when Broad is the best.
Dernbach is clearly out of his depth at this level as I said in my OP.

I'm not watching any more, just listening to TMS and perhaps a doze in the evening sunshine.
If I had gone to Lords I think I would be either drunk by now or heading for the exit.

Bit harsh! am sure your use to England's inept preformances at the odi level now? I know i am..have given up on them ever been top of the tree at that form of the game..Am just hoping this doesnt rub off on the test series with India..

I'm always concerned when England test players play one day cricket, it's a place to pick up bad habits as we see often from Pietersen.
Ever time Pietersen returns from the IPL it takes him several innings in test cricket to get some form.

I agree 100% about Pieterson. apart from the odd innings in recent times. He's been unable to bat for along time.Could be the IPL to blame getting into his head.. a shot a ball isn't always called for..
