I must confess that I think Duncan Drasdo is a clown, but even a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day, so is this one of those times, and are you at all concerned even if his figures published in the Manchester Evening News are correct?
"United has actually spent less in net transfer fees than not only our main rivals in Europe and the Premier League [Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham] but also had a lower net spend since 2006 than Aston Villa, Sunderland and Stoke."
"It's worse than that, though - in the last three years United's net transfer spend has been less than Hull, Blackpool and Burnley.
"Only the incredible efforts of Sir Alex Ferguson have allowed us to remain competitive in the Premier League."
"At times it feels like he is dragging the team towards a 20th league title by sheer willpower alone."
"However, even Sir Alex's magical touch couldn't bridge that gap in Europe."
Edit: I can't vouch for the source of this data, but for those interested this is a list of the ins and outs against spend since 92/93. I was amazed to see we managed to get £2.5m for Taibi, which was obviously a loss, but even still!

I met and had a chance to talk to David Gill and SAF during a sponsor function on the USA tour, and apart from the policy of not buying any more Berba's there really are not any restrictions on who we can buy.
I think SAF really wanted Ozil, he certainly gave me that impression, but we were not going to beat Madrid to him.
David Gill told the audience that the Glazers have given the manager backing in the transfer market whenever he wanted it.
I look at the Bebe transfer as a pointer to this. Logic would suggest that if the Glazers were pinching the pennies, they would not have sanctioned 7 million on a player SAF hadn't even seen play.

You don't really know much about SAF do you?
You seem very ignorant of his make up and how he came to be where he is.
Read his book, it will enlighten you. And don't say you have, because you quite clearly have not, if you ever think SAF would be a yes man.

.....However if he thinks that David Gill tells Fergie who he is going to buy and subsequently play in the first team then he is certainly as deluded as Nohlman.

@Vidicshin - Yep, Bebe is certainly a good supporting point in that argument, and ive no doubt you're right about Ozil. There's so much about that Bebe transfer that's hard to reconcile. I suppose one angle could be he took a big risk given the budget, hoping he unearthed a gem he could polish, but I dont even buy that theory myself

There's only one thing more sad than Nohlman and that's someone trying to pretend he's Nohlman!
