He probably wouldn't have been my choice at the Pirelli (still holding out for Mark Robins) but both managers (Allen & Buckle) who have both been recently linked with us are now with their new clubs. It just shows you that there are decisive Chairmen out there who understand the fans expectations over and above prom and bridal fairs!!
Martin Allen replaces Lawrie Sanchez as Bar

Wether that is true or not we don't know but it surely is the view of the majority of the fans. Penny pinching, shoestring budget to survive in league 2 is what the majority are expecting !

I am surprised that Mad Dog went back there. I thought he was despised for walking out on them (twice). It shows that differences can easily be put to one side and the past eradicated in this fickle world of football.
I wish he was our Manager. I have gone on record saying that before. Furthermore, if he is prepared to go back there, he would have taken our vacancy.
On the purse strings matter, I don't know much about football finances and what I am about to say is based on no facts whatsoever.
Leaving aside asset value, using the 92 clubs in the league pyramid, if you put together a league table from those starting with 'in the black' first and moving down through the various shades of red, I think we would be in a Champions League place.
Bring on Barcelona - that's what I say. Put Ronnie on Messi and we'll be fine.

I agree with you about the finances Otep, i'm not asking for us to go over the top, but a little more investment would be sensible to move us forward from league 2 survival. Only 10% of the money received in transfers re-invested in players is not sending out the right messages and letting go good players such as Amankwaah and Parkes in the way we did quibbling over money again was again the wrong message.
Supporters want to see the playing staff built up to make the club stronger. Those bad decisions that the club made ended up with us having to loan players from here there and everywhere which by and large were a disaster !
Fans will come to watch players with quality but not the third rate fare the Brewers are offering up.
Whilst it is to the clubs credit that the business side of the club is building up very well it is the football side that is the priority of the fans and it needs to be seen as so by them. Better football will bring in more revenue, interest and investment from all areas also.
I think Ben needs to take stock and look at the whole picture of the playing side because virtually every supporter you talk too feels the football side is in 2nd place to the business side.

I agree with you Terraceman other than your view that football is in second place to commercial opportunuties. Without the business side we would end up back in the BSP or lower whoever is manager. I don't believe we would be Martin Allen's choice either. I have faith in Ben to make the right appointment.

Frank maybe it comes over wrong in my article but i realise and understand the developement of the clubs commercial activites which in itself is a fantastic achievement and that it needs to grow hand in hand with the footballing side of our club.
I whole heartedly support it but feel it is growing and developing while the footballing side is going in the opposite direction and needs urgent attention.
Thanks for supporting my view and lets be honest all we want is to be proud of our football club.
