If we don't win on Saturday.........

We will be relegated?

Wils, perhaps but I believe player wages were about 85% of turnover in a report about 3 years ago. So if you take TV and Tickets there's about £7.8m left to run the club on.

Next season we could have a squad of 25 players on £10k per week, that's £13m over the year. £6.1m from TV and Tickets maybe rounded upto £7m with sponsorship. Sell Yak and Robbo and the wages are covered.

The other £7.8m that remained previously to run the club could come from selling N'Zonzi and Olsson.

The parachute payment and other sales are pure profit!

Kerching!

Sounds to me that reality is finally dawning. Venkys saw a chance to make some quick money and took it. The only way you ( their customers) can get rid of them is to starve them of their lifeblood. eg CASH. 3 to 6 months of vey low income should force them out. Remember.......The customer is King.

True enough ,to stay away from Ewood is like a nightmare! No football just walking the Rover every Saturday is not right appealing.

Cool, glad you are catching up at last.

Star, sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind. Yes it is very difficult to stay away but the long term benefits could be huge. Just trying to help.
OOJW, Not catching up, its been coming since The Trust took over something that none of them really had a passion for.

Clearly hasn't been coming since the Trust took over. It either came before that with people like Jack or since, with an unfit fit and proper persons plus ridiculous player power!

Pie......Who took the unfit fit and proper persons money and disappeared into sunset ? or are you seriously blaming Uncle Jack ?

The Trust were instructed to look after the best interests of the family businessES!

One of the business was haemorrhaging money, what were the trust to do?

And I wasn't blaming Jack but highlighting that when the mega investment came into the game everything snowballed. People have seen an opportunity to make money but it has come at a cost to some. The game has become ridiculously disproportionate from top to bottom and the history of clubs that represent the towns of you and I can be under threat!

Pie, I think we are saying the same thing in different ways. Your last sentence sums it up perfectly. The Burnleys,Blackburns and Boltons of the football league cannot compete at the top level any more. Money rules, not history.

Only time will tell on this in my opinion. I can see 3 options

1. Venkys could attempt to do a Mike Ashley and take a financial hit for one year in the hope that we bounce back up. Few things wrong with this. How many of the current squad would want to stay around, I really can't see us coming straight back up and there's no way Venkys would pump money into us.

2. Consolidate and rebuild. Get rid of the majority of current players. All the ones I listed above will be on too much to sustain in the Championship and, even if I have been a bit generous with the transfer fees, we should get a fair whack of money from them. Invest some of this on players that will keep us in the Championship and build a squad over time to take us back up

3. Asset Strip. Sell all those players. Reinvest pretty much F/A of it. Pop over a couple of times in next few years to collect the parachute payments. Hey if any of the youth players show some promise we can sell them to the first bidder as well.
