The Daily Star is reporting that Sir Alex is now looking to throw £40m to get luka modric in from spurs this summer.
This follows on from weeks of speculation that gaitan is also coming in from benfica, with Fabio (loan) and possibly Kiko Macheda going the other way as a make weight.
In addition to this, edin hazard (the hottest property in european football, so we are lead to believe) is also on our radar according to Rene Meulensteen`s interview with a Dutch football publication last week.
Personally I think, with Fabio going to benfica on loan, the gaitan deal holds the most water, despite Paddy denying it on his show earlier in the week.......but then he`s hardly going to shout it from the roof tops if he knows its on or not!!
I`d welcome modric, proven class and won`t have to adapt to the premier league bcause he`s already here. Possibly Berba and/or some players going there on loan as a makeweight??? Not sure.
Hazard. If he`s as good as they all make out and from what i`ve seen, then i`d love to see him come in. I just hope that if we are serious, then it doesn`t turn out to be another sanchez where we`re scouting for someone else and get gazzumped!!
I just hope we aren`t disappointed this summer and we finally get some creative flair added to our, at times, flat midfield ranks.
Also, without trying to open up an old can of worms, I hope that Pogba, Fryers and Petrucci sign too.

yes Rooney can be a targetman but he is only 5 ft 9, as I said earlier he peels off defenders. do not aggressively attack crosses. with our wingers we will be a greater threat with someone like cavani or Llorente

Fair enough - i dunno how long he has got left on his contract but i think if we could get him for a free he would be a good player and definetly more effective and less injury prone than owen. probably provide more goals than del piero would - i think comming from the italian league he would struggle to adapt to the pace of the premiership

If you think you shouldn't sign a midfielder because Anderson will come good then you're in for disappointed. He not only isn't good enough but he's always injured.

He was brilliant in pre-season and early season.
If he can get over his injury probs he'll be a beast of a player.
Sir Alex isn't done with him just yet. His progression from 19 has been totally ruined by injury so I, unlike you seemingly, won't be giving up on him just yet.

He's simply not good enough. He needs to be moved on a a big name midfielder brought in. Giggs will regress, as of course will Scholes and you can't rely on Anderson, who firstly isn't good enough and secondly is always injured. Fletcher and Carrick shouldn't play in the same team and it should be one or the other. You need a big name midfielder, who can do things in the final third. Why do you think Rooney has been played in there this season?

You would have to be foolish to not understand why we have not seen the real Ando as yet.
You do realise that Sir Alex has been trying to do with Ando what Benitez did to Lucas don't you? Only Ando has had his development ruined by injury.
Lucas was berated by Liverpool fans in his early years. They now can't wait for him to get back.

By some, those who saw his potential stood by him and were proved right. I was one of them. I don't see the potential in Anderson to be anything more than an expensive flop.

If we are splitting hairs like this, what's the point.
I've listened to SAF talk about Ando at length. You clearly didn't watch him pre-season and earlier this season if you think he has no potential. He was top draw. SAF explained why we haven't seen anything like the best of Ando. I listened to why. It made perfect sense.
How you can form an opinion on a player when we haven't seen what he is properly capable of yet because of his hampered development is just ridiculous
Mind you, I am talking to a guy who thinks he knows Macheda's mind better than he does himself
