For those of you who haven't read it, team GB have been drawn against:
Senegal
Uruguay
United Arab Emirates
In group A of the Olympics.
Senegal were the last to qualify for the competition, beating Oman 2-0 in the play-offs, UAE won their Asian Olympic Qualifying Group while Uruguay were runners up in their South American group to Brazil.
I think this should be fairly easily navigated by team GB, then again, we say that most senior tournements so I'll hold my tongue for the time being.
The article got me thinking about what team we'd play though, so I'd suggest something along the lines of:
(15 of the 18 man squad have to be born after January 1st 1989)
Amos (couldn't think of another keeper)
Kyle Walker
Chris Smalling
Phil Jones
Nathaniel Clyne
Wilfried Zaha (I know he was born in Cote d'Ivore but he's played U19 and U21 for England)
Aaron Ramsey
Tom Cleverly
Gareth Bale
Danny Welbeck
Daniel Sturridge
I didn't want to pick any of the 3 over 23 players as they could literally be anyone, Giggs? Beckham?
I think that team is pretty great! They would win a lot of Premier League matches IMO so I can see them doing well.
Some of them may be used at Euro 2012 like Welbeck (probably), Walker (probably not), Smalling (maybe) Cleverly (doubt it), Sturridge etc. Which I suppose would be a shame for the younger guys but we have some good back up players in Henderson (despite his Liverpool form), Barkeley, Rodwell, David Goodwillie, Jordan Rhodes (thinking about it, he should definitely play!) Theo Walcott etc.
So what do you think? Your teams? Would you even get excited/be proud if we won the whole thing or just got past the knock-out rounds?

'It worked for Germany at WC2010 and now those players who excelled have gone on to be top European players.'
They already were top players, capable of passing the ball. Ours are technically dreadful.

It should be good to watch simply from a point of view where we have the British Isles playing together which I personally find pretty cool.

Depends on your perspective really.
I find it quite galling to watch people jeopardise teams that have been in existence since the beginning of international football all because of some mickey mouse tournament that nobody within these isles particularly cares about at any other time, all because the Olympics happen to be getting played in the South-East of England.

Anyone else getting annoyed that the press can't mention the Olympics without mentioning Beckham? I couldn't care less whether he is picked, it just bugs me that everything is always about him (still!). Jeez, just retire already...he's semi-retired anyway.
