Even though it didn't work for him at Liverpool I wish him success as England manager.

I am not bitter - i got banned from the liverpool board for saying kenny out in a matchthread, and then complaining about it

Bottom line...Roy is a decent bloke & deserves a shot at it & our backing

What we actually need is a decent team...which currently we havn't

IOf Roy can get us through the group (which I doubt) it will be a start
He's got to appoint the right Captain, get JT & Rio playing as a pair despite differences, & find a goal scorer for at least two games.

Good luck Roy

"I'd love him to name a team of Wobinson, Wichards, Wio, Tewwy, Bwidge, Gewwawd, Wilshire, Cwouch, and Stuwwidge against Fwance and the Ukwaine."

Worth reading just for this!

Hodgson is a solid manager with a lot of experience and rightly respected throughout the game but is he the man to lead England to Glory? No.

But then again no one is because our national team is nowhere near as good as some media want to think it is. Players like Terry and Ferdinand are past their best, Lampard and Gerrard never really worked well together and the younger men now in the squad aren't yet the finished article.

I suspect Hodgson has been picked with this in mind. He's a sort of custodian, watching over the next four years to see out the last of the 'golden generation' (Lamps, Terry, Ferdinand and so on) and bring the younger lads along while the new setup establishes itself. After the confusing and frankly annoying Capello saga ended acrimoniously and given how little time he has I doubt we'll get to the last four at Euro 2012 and that won't be Roy Hodgson's fault.

By the time 2016 comes around we might, just might be ready to mount a serious challenge in major competitions. Until then I think we should be realistic and not immediately jump down the manager's throat if one or two results don't go our way.

All the best to Roy Hodgson who I do actually rate highly. In the current circumstances he's probably the best man for the job.

He's the best Englishman for the job, not the best man for the job.

The sight of him makes me angry but I think he'll do OK.

The players know his tactics and might even be suited to them. Organised 2 banks of 4 in defence with pace like Theo and Young to exploit on counters. Old school.

He's does really well with smaller teams that have players not too talented and without many choices for team selection.
Sounds like just the man for the England job!
