Peeder - yep that's about the sum of it, though it was exciting being a kid under Cox/Pickering when we seemed to be either signing or linked with a £1m+ player every day of the week!

I was born after the 1971 Arsenal home match, at which point Clough's win percentage was a measly 41%. After the footballing messiah of DCFC was born, we beat Forest 2-0 and thereafter, for the rest of the season, this percentage rocketed to 63% and so the league was won.

Coincidence..? I think not. Those of you who love your 'legacy' theories will note the similarity now that I'm coaching the amateur Son Of via the miracle of tinterwebs too.

I don't remember much about the first Championship but the stats prove beyond a doubt that I am pivotal in any degree of success DCFC enjoy.

Sorry Dave, but I think you're pushing it to include Powell & Bailey in a salute to the title-winning team of 71-72.

Powell made only 3 appearances that season, but obviously went on to become a legend.

Bailey made exactly 1 league appearance for the Rams in his entire career. TBH the BBG groundsman probably had more influence over us winning the title than Mr Bailey!

players behaved like men on the pitch and didn't make cheating an art form.

That all changed a couple of years later when you signed Franny "the dive" Lee...
