The Celtic Question

As per the article below detailing celtics option regarding the possibility of rangers Newco joinming SPL, would it not be easier, but just as effective if Celtic fans simply boycotted all away games.

It would obviously have the same financial effect but would mean Celtic didnt actually have to resign.

My personal opinion is that Rangers should just go to Divusion 3 and work their way up. They would gain a lot more respect, including mine, than simply using money as a carrot to let them remain.

Curly - your missing the point of the whole article. It is a threat to other clubs not to allow a new rangers co in.

its nothing to do with damaging the finances our own club ffs..

celtic wont resign from the SPL ,its a threat they wont carry out , but will get fans on their side and renew their season tickets.

The thread went onto talk about banning Rangers fans to prove a point , which will not happen as they need our money

I think you are missing the point

And if Celtic fans who are all for sporting integrity do indeed boycott all away grounds of clubs who vote a newco in , what will they do if they have a chance of winning the title at Rugby park again next season?

Will sporting integrity be upheld ?

Arabian Knight

So Celtic and Rangers are to blame for the rest of the garbage that resides in the Scottish League.

Hearts and Hibs reside in the wealthiest city outside London... yet haven't mustered up a decent bit of competition for years.

Why is it the old firms fault that these clubs lack the ambition, drive and ability to move forward.

Celtic can't be blamed for being more ambitious.

The rest are garbage because they allow it, so do their fans. Simple as that.

Some good points in here from various & several users.

Think DC raised a whole list of points which make alot of sense.

The suggestion that the 'big two' are money orientated and not interested in the development of Scottish football is quite simply rubbish as an overall view

Most fans agree an increase on 12 teams in the SPL is a must, however, with this will ultimately mean the end to the split & end to the multiple games v Celtic & Rangers so the others were dead against such a move for financial reasons rather than the good of Scottish football.

They were also quite vocally against an SPL tv idea 7 instead forced through the terrible setanta deal - again for a quick buck rather than long term investment.

I'm not simply sticking up for my club & having a pop for no reason just fed up of this talk about Celtic not having the interests of Scottish football etc etc.

For the record I am totally in favour in a more even split of money in terms of tv deals & an end to the veto voting with a more democratic voting structure needed
