Lap of honour

Evening Reds,

This has been bugging me for the past week and I need to get it off my chest.

I know the traditional lap of honour at the end of the last game is a nice way to say thank you to the fans for the season. However, I thought United players were disgraceful last week, I understand how they felt as I was downheartend too but they put no effort into the applauding and the 'thanking' of the fans.

Now we spend our hard earned cash, most of us spend a good part of our wages following them boys, home, away and abroad. These players have us to thank for the lifestyle they lead and last week I was appauld by the 'can't be bothered' attitude. It made me realise that no matter what they say, they don't give a hoot about us.

The fans gave them a massive cheer as we are proud of their efforts this year and we are just as gutted if not more than missing out on the title, but it isn't the end of the world.

I think they were just a bit demoralized by the City result. A lap of honour is to celebrate a whole season and we've had a lot of good results over 38 games so the lap of honour will be deserved overall.

Besides, not having one would be seen as an insult to the fans who made the trip.

I think all footballers live in a bubble and don't get the point when things like happen.

The life of a pampered player eh.

To be honest I was a bit shocked at how many reds left before the final whistle.

That could've been Scholes' or Giggs' last game for United for all they knew and didn't even stay to applaud them.

That annoyed me.

Not all fans get the effort put in by club legends, the young ones are quick to dart an as with any big clubs you get the plastics.

I see people leaving before the game has finished at city all the time.

Well they were hardly going to be jumping up and down with joy after the City result. Everyone was feeling a bit $hite, probably none more so than them. I wouldnt take it personally.

At OT you always get the ones running past you with 5 mins of normal time to go, just so they can avoid the traffic

Anyone who has consistently left Old Trafford 5 minutes early for the past 20 years has probably missed 3 seasons worth of goals!!

Oz - I will occasionally leave 4 or 5 minutes before the final whistle (inc extra time) as it saves me roughly 35-40 minutes on my journey home, but only if the game is petering out.

But yeah, I agree with the OP. Some players just dont get it. Did anyone see the end of the Blackburn Vs Wigan game? Robinson stayed around to clap the fans while the rest couldn't wait to get out of there. Cowardly if you ask me.
