After an eventful week in Madrid, the tour moves to a more familiar red clay in Rome.

Rome 2011 points were already dropped, so the new "dropped" column includes points from Nice and WTC 2011, as well as any points that will become uncountable after Rome points are added.

Djokovic is still safe at #1 but Federer and Nadal could swap their positions again right here. Nadal will reclaim #2 spot if he either wins the tournament (in which case he does not care how Federer does) or if he loses in the final and Federer loses in QF or earlier.

Murray cannot move either up or down, so his aim will be simply to close the gap on top 3.

Further down the rankings there is a three-way tussle for the #5 spot between Tsonga, Ferrer and Berdych, with Tsonga somewhat safer at #5 but Ferrer and Berdych neck-and-neck.

What did you expect? somersault in between shots?

well as i didn't watch the match so i really cannot say but on v2 they are going into length detail about how brilliant his tactics were.
Even without watching the final i would hazard a guess that he didn't change much at all as why has it taken so long for him to incorporate these 'changes' into his game until now.
Maybe he is playing better and maybe i'm not giving enough credit to nadal but from what i saw at MC, a 2011 novak would have beaten 2012 MC nadal.
Am i on the right page?

Well very simply put, Djoko was 2 points away from winning the first set 6/4 and one of those 2 points was simply robbed. So Nadal losing 6/4 or winning 7/5 was done a one or 2 points there and then. Nothing to do with Nadal....and I am quite sure you will confirm that if/when you watch the match.

One thing that surprised me however is that the slow conds actually helped Nadal very much as Djoko's bread and butter shots were not really hurting Nadal as they can do on slightly faster surfaces.

just saying if rafa were to lose to novak in the final it would probs make the race for no1 over bar a novak breakdown but also it would put feds ahead of rafa in the rankings?

Yes leeds. I would still be in favour of Djoko beating Rafa cause Djoko would still have 4000 points to defend in London and New york...But then Djoko woudl have 4 in a row....oh I am not sure what I want besides Fed to win the last 3 slams.
