.. for me, as a Manchester United supporter, is not because we lost but because we were so nearly there for 92 minutes. It seemed luck was with us but then its seemed to desert us suddenly for a cruel 2 minutes. In a sense it would have been better if City won 5-0 or something. I had already accepted that we were not going to win the title but I guess the fate really wanted to rub salt into the wounds!
Congratulations to Manchester City supporters. Even a scriptwriter couldn't have written the last 5 minutes better. They say its very hard to win the first title (not actually first in City's case but first after a long time) and I can't imagine how it could have been any harder. You have endured a long spell of heart-breaking results in past years and I am sure it will go a long way in making up for some of that!
As for Manchester United, we were so nearly there however I have no shame in admitting that we lost to a better team which just about had that extra ounce of belief that is the real difference sometimes. We have ourselves been involved in too many last minute miracles so I don't begrudge the fact that we ended up on the wrong side this time. Yes it hurts more because Manchester City are the local rivals, however a part of me (which is more human!) is happy seeing big smiles on the faces of people who have mostly been devoid of footballing success in recent times. Given that we have been so successful recently it was probably poetic justice that the title win came at our expense!
Lets hope the epic battle continues into the new season and we can go back to being bitter rivals!
Enjoy the title win and see you after the summer!
The disappointment..

OP
I have already put an article on the red board commending many of your supporters for their grace in defeat. You are a credit to your football club

Whichever side you were on yesterday it went to show why we love this game which can be so beautiful and so cruel almost in the same instant.
Well done City. Having supported United for years and seen us do something similar on more than one occassion it is something that we have to accept with grace and move on.

It's history, what's important now is to bring in reinforments so that the same won't happen next campagn. We clearly have weaknesses, and the throphy ended where it did, eventually just was based on luck, eventhough we've had 10 injuries and Scholes never should have retired, or we should have brought in a Scholes-type of player, which we failed to do.
Evra has played alot of matches this season but should have had more competition because his level have dropped, and it's not because of age i believe, just because of Fabio have totaly failed in competing with him.
I believe Baines should be brought in, even though he's 27.
Our main problem is the central defence, we have let in late goals (against Everton) and against City. Which both cost us the title. Ferdinand is ok, but nothing more. It's time to bring in fresher legs. My favorite, Hummels.
Giggs and Park has nothing to do in the central midfielder. Leaving us few options, I believe Gaitan should be brought in, excellent to start with, but lacked some form after christmas, we always have Scholes (hopefully) for next season to help him out.
Rooney is top draw, but to easy to read, he dosn't have the pace like Mesut Ozil or Messi in the no10 role. And he sometimes get a number to small in the big matches against a good DCM. I believe Kagawa can bring up that pace and push Rooney further up the front, but still with some playmaker role, as he can do more than just score. A free role maybe.
Lewandowski is my latest admirer. The "Bayern Munich killer" in the cup. 22 goals, and none from penalties. He will get even more support in United. Berbatov and Owen dosn't really fit the United style of play and should be getting ridd off. Leaves us only Hernandez, Welbeck and Rooney, and possibly Kagawa which is to little on 2 positions through-out a season. This is all based on weither or not Hernandez will be in good form next season, his gone 3 summers without a break and that costs. And given we sign Lewandowski he can't expect playing every week, Welbeck still needs to develop and have the potensial to be really top class.
I know 5 signings is more than we probably will bring in. But I expect Berbatov, Owen to leave permanent.
And Fabio, Macheda temporary. Which is 4 depatures.
Rio, Giggs, Scholes do all soon retire from us aswell.
And we can't expect Vidic, Fletcher to recover in the same form they use to have.

It looks as though scholes and giggs will play on for one more season, that for me isn’t a problem as long as they don’t play together and also their games are rationed out – it might be better if fergie rests them and only brings them in at christmas time like scholes has done – they can’t compete over the course of a full season and will be another year older by then.
As for summer buys we will now probably be bombarded with players – probably even more so because we didn’t win the league this year. I expect quite a few players to be shown the door I just hope that we can actually get some decent money for them. Berbatov, Owen, Park, Kuzazck, Macheda, Fabio are all due to leave or go out on loan. Fletcher, vidic and possibly Anderson are doubts for the start of the season so we look likley to finally sign at least one midfielder this summer. Centre backs I think we are covered for unless fergie sees Jones now as a right back. Mainly I hope we get our business sorted before the euro championships but its unlkiely clubs will want to deal before then as a good tournament sees their palyers value skyrocket
