Looks as though Rio Ferdinand is about to be sacrificed, to allow John Terry to take his place in the England squad, without the extra pressure of having to deal with his impending court case, involving Rio's brother Anton.
Good old Roy seems to be showing his strength of character already it would seem.
Dont be surprised, to compound this level of cowardice, when Roy reinstates Terry as England captain tomorrow.
Thoughts ?
Ferdinand no go ?

funrob. He's in the Lennon category of frustrating so so much. Most Arsenal fans have been on all season about him all season saying how frustrating he is and yet suddenly he'll pop up and do something. Both Walcott and Lennon are good players but extremely similar in the fact that neither of them look likely to make the step up to being a world class player who is going to win a game by themselves like a Ronaldo or a Robben. Walcott's issue imo is still the hype back when Arsenal first signed him as he was billed to be the next big thing but hasnt made the step.

I hear what you're saying but we're not asking him to be consistent over an entire season, more to provide a bit of excitement against a defence that may never have played against him before. Even 2 or 3 brilliant moments may be enough to get us to the semis and who knows after that. I'm not saying he's perfect but I can't think of anyone else we have that can do what he does on his day.

Might be a tad biased in this but Lennon has been a huge reason for Spurs doing well this year. When he got injured our season dipped dramatically. Not saying he's the answer but he is another like Carrick who isn't a media darling. He's not had a look in since getting blamed for the first two games in South Africa, despite the fact we were playing too slowly and Johnson's overlapping was causing him to come inside all the time.

I do like Lennon and notice how well you guys played when he came back and if Walcott isn't available he'd be great on the right wing but I just think Walcott is a bit more direct and is slightly less injury prone. Walcott is a better finisher too. Anything so we don't have Wright-Phillips back again!

I would definitely, definitely, definitely play Lennon.
Lennon right, Young left. Probably Carrick and Parker in the middle.

i don't like rio, but i would take him ahead of terry. Terry just poisons the squad, where as rio actually seems liked and respected by his peers.

I do like the idea of that midfield with a slightly advanced player sitting behind the striker. Carrick and Parker can sit deep and keep things tight and with Carrick's passing he could springboard counter attacks. Its the way for England to win games, sitting back and hitting on the break. It won't be pretty but it'll be effective.

pav that i would play gerrard in that slightly advanced role. it is the position he has played well in. play like a 4 2 3 1 formation
