championship play off final 2007

so, it's the championship play off final today.

ahh the memories.

so, i want to take you back to that wonderful weekend in 2007.

basically, do you have any stories about what you were doing before the game.

where did you watch it if you weren't at wembley?
did you go down on the saturday or the sunday before ?

and the trip back up the M1, what was it like for you ?

I think I've told the story before, but I'll tell you again. We drove down by car, parked up in Kilburn in a car park, went to pay at the machine and to our behold someone the previous night had ripped open the machine, and cause we were down the smoke and the machine was open, one of the lads who had a hat on, took his hat off and the cash ended up in said hat. So it was free drinks all night Thanks London.

Had a fantastic day, took my eldest lad who was 13 at the time, went on a mini bus from derby dropped of at kingsbury and drinking around their. I had a couple of bottles of champagne on ice which were demolished afterwards.

After final whistle I hugged my lad and said now get ready for the bad times. Still can't believe just how fec king bad

Didn't go.

I was working in Ireland and the Monday wasn't a bank holiday over there. I had a meeting that day that would dictate my future over the next few years.

I watched the game in the Porterhouse Central in Dublin with a couple of Dublin-based Rams fans and started smoking again after having given up 5 years before.

Great link Colbi - your best contribution to this board for a while
I was going to watch today's game but I think I will watch OUR game instead if I can find the DVD.
I drove from Penzance and back that day (left the wife and youngest in a caravan). 600 miles, 14 hours, well worth it.
But god, was it cold or what! More like mid Jan that late May.

me. drove down on the sunday with sister, nephew and me mum.we stayed at a hostel in gloucester rd. cheap for london.

had a wander around london sunday evening. monday morning we had a breakfast and spotted a baggie fan

so before we left, and the baggie fan was still having breakfast, my nefphew decided to jumped up and down trying to wind him up.

got to wembley early. wanted to take in the view from the doors at wembley park station, but was told to 'move along' by station staff.

was walking up the stairs to the seats..taking in the view..thinking... " wow " .....

got told to get out of the way by me mum.... sigh.
weather was awful.

does everybody remember how much the food cost at wembley ?

wasn't fish and chips £8 ?

we were sat ,as you saw it on tv, over the far right, near the corner flag.to the left of the goal where it was scored.

there was a spare seat in front of me,and a blow up doll was put there to stop it being thrown around during the game...not joking.

nearest i've got to a girl in years.

after the game, getting back to the hostel......driving out of london.......and gettting stuck in those roadworks on the M1.

got back around midnight.

one of the best days of my life.

Went to a sports bar on main st about forty tvs, most were tuned to basketball ! Setanta carried the game live, it took them a while to find the channel but eventually THERE it was, my Wife and I sat outside in the bright warm sunshine all the people walking by completely oblivious to the monumental occasion unfolding, until that moment when the gingerbread man implicated himself in the scoring process, the drive back home was sheer heaven, but remember thinking how will we do in the prem? what a great summer that was.
