Team we could have had

Just imagining the team that we could have had from January onwards last year if Houllier hadn't fallen out with two players - Ireland and Warnock.
I feel this could have been an excellent team.
Friedel
Walker - Cuellar - Dunne - Warnock
Downing - Makoun - Petrov - Ireland - Young
Bent
Barring his heart problems i think Houllier would have then tried his best to keep Downing, Young probably would would have gone but would be replaced well. Petrov would have been replaced with Cabaye and he would have cleared out the deadwood at the back. Plus Hutton would never have been signed.
If only....

if only...but there are so many 'if onlys'

if only MON had signed Bent instead of Curtsi Davies - we would have qualified for CL that season, and Bazza would not have left...

Don't think Houllier fell out with Ireland as such. Ireland just wasn't happy at being pushed out of City and it took him some time to grow up and realise he had to get on with it, well into this last season in fact. But yes, I think the rebuilding would have started at the start of last season, instead of still to happen.

Walker would not have signed either.

Like the side though.

Sadly Villa fans get use to if only.
