I find it quite unbelievable in a modern society that we go ahead with sporting events in a country that seems to have a fair amount of racialism to an extent that families of the sports representatives that go and play their in a free spirit are afraid to travel and be spectators. unbelievable

The suggestion by FIFA that homosexuals in Qatar should be secretive is one of the most outrageous things I've heard in ages. No; you shouldn't be hosting an International tournament in a country that isn't prepared to be inclusive.

Homosexuals don't like football, they like ice skating, gymnastics and rugby. So no worries there.

People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
No country is without fault. If you search long enough and focus on negative incidents, you will always find a reason to boycott any country.
I am fed up with politicians and propagandists who try politicize football. This is a worrying trend which should be stopped. Football should entertain people and bring them together. Politics divide and, in most cases, are a pretext for more sinister purposes anyway.

If the WC can be hosted by a country responsible for 2 World Wars and millions of deaths (Germany), by a country which wages wars across the world and nuked another country(US), by former colonialist powers who looted and robbed other nations for centuries (Spain, our own England, France etc.) surely it can be hosted by countries such as Ukraine, Russia and Qatar.

It is ironic that the English media are focussing on the racism in other countries.
Maybe they should get John Terry's opinion.

@Just imagine: That is such a strawman argument. History has nothing to do with it. If a country is going to be intolerant then they shouldn't have an inclusive event such as this. Police weren't having to warn people about travelling to the US or Germany if their skin colour wasn't a particular type. It's got nothing to do with politics and everything to do with safety. An International event that is open to supporters of all nations should not be held somewhere were gay fans are told to ensure they keep a low profile, or black and Asian fans have been actively warned by groups that they will be targeted.
But as far as politics go, yes the regime in Ukraine is appallingly corrupt and there are human rights abuses. I am not talking about history here; rather things that are going on now. Might as well give the WC to Syria if we can't take current events into account.
