Depressing

I don't care if England don't win the Euros. I never expect anything from them in tournaments.

I am, however, growing increasingly annoyed about the whole attitude to international football in this country. Every time Carroll wins an aerial ball, the commentators moan with sexual excitement. Every 60 yard pass is not a lump, it's 'direct'. The best thing an England player can do is make a hard tackle.

England aren't going to win an international tournament, at least not for a few years. So instead of picking players on experience and reputation, and making everything about getting to the semi finals in the next tournament, why don't we take a step back, knock everything down and start over.

Why don't we just try to make an entertaining team for once? The only players who looked even remotely interesting tonight were Young and the Ox. Every other player was just depressing to watch. If we could put out an XI of players who play good passing football and are exciting to watch, I will be far happier than any time I've been tonight, regardless of scoreline.

England are cack full stop. The three Utd players mentioned are good players, but they're not world class.

Darkphoenix - "just imagine what, Spain, German and Holland will do to us"

England won't get past France, Sweden & Ukraine, so don't worry about those other three.

What did people expect? I'm more surprised at how many people seem a little shocked at our performance under Hodgson.

Hodgson is your classic defensive dull coach that aims for a clean sheet and hopes to nick one. Then shock horror we scrape a 1-0 win away to a relatively weak team with a less than exciting performance and people seem freaked out by it. Welcome to the future under Roy.

I agree the annoying way stuff gets reported, like even this dire excuse for a football match is lauded as 'our first win in Norway in 32 years' as if we've just beaten Brazil in Rio.

Even Hodgson before the game was saying he's glad we've got 'top quality opposition' in these friendlies rather than relative easy teams we could put 3 past. Sorry when were Norway 'top class opposition'?

I had to lol when Ox made his like, third touch, commentator bummed off it, only for him to lose the ball, the sheepish tone after was hilarious.

Not Ox's fault, the stupid hype from the pundits and commentators is cringe worthy. 'we should be celebrating' said the fat puffer in the post game talk. Celebrating what exactly? A sluggish, 1-0, setting the standards high...
